The real looters step up, let's blame Ellen, & Marxist sea mammals

So, now the hardcore looting begins: the U.S. government is hiring multi-nationals like Halliburton to do to New Orleans what Rudy Guiliani and his corporate cronies did to Times Square.

Of course, we're bound to hear plenty of pious "Marshall Plan" references...but, as Prof. Chomsky reminds us, these comparisons are far more accurate and nefarious than most might realize.

"The Marshall Plan was far from altruistic - it made other countries dependent on U.S. business agro-exports and surplus production," Noam explains. "Actually one of the purposes of the Marshall Plan, this great benevolent plan, was to shift Europe and Japan from coal to oil. Europe and Japan both had indigenous coal resources but they switched to oil in order to give the US control. About $2 billion out of the $13 billion Marshall Plan dollars went straight to the oil companies to help convert Europe and Japan to oil based economies. For power, it's enormously significant to control the resources and oil's expected to be the main resource for the next couple of generations."

Obviously, we are the victims of more than a little deception here.

Fortunately for us democracy-dwellers, our government representatives have taught us how to identify misinformation:

For the more skeptical in spirit, a few enterprising souls have created an “alternative” version:
