Earthquakes: the drilling angle.

WMR has learned from a knowledgeable source who has studied the possible man-made aspects behind a number of destructive earthquakes that seismic tomography may be the cause of quakes in Haiti, Chile, and other locations.

Seismic tomography for oil and gas exploration has been largely covered up by the energy industry, which prefers to use the term "non-explosive" methods to describe the procedure. In some cases, the use of explosives to prospect for oil and natural gas have had some negative "back blast" consequences that the industry also felt compelled to cover up. Also, in the past, oil and natural gas explorers dropped depth charges to the seafloor to generate acoustic waves in order to detect oil and natural gas deposits.

WMR's source reports that that Halliburton with help from Bechtel has used Americium-242 -- a highly reactive isotope -- with tiny pellets of plutonium to conduct sub-seafloor blasts for seismic tomography aimed at analyzing rock for the oil and gas deposits.

We have also learned that Halliburton routinely loses its capsules of Russian-made Americium-241 in places like Nigeria, India, and, Boston.

The Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004 (which took place off Aceh, Sumatra, the site of large Exxon Mobil operations), the Haiti quake and Chilean tsunami/quake have similar features of a vertical shock uplift, rather than a sideways tectonic movement, and radial patterns without any sign of a directional horizontal thrust in contrast to Kobe, Sichuan and Iwate. The recent three quakes off Sumatra and in Haiti and Chile could well be the result of borehole electromagnetic-triggered seismic activities, possibly linked to pressure releases from seabed gas domes.

How far do these boreholes go down? In each case the events were on fairly shallow shelves, accessible to submersible drilling vessels.

What is Israel doing with the Pentagon in the Negev?

On August 27, Israel's Seismologic Division of its Geophysical Institute of the Ministry of National Infrastructure conducted, along with the U.S. Defense Department and the University of Hawaii, a joint earthquake research experiment in Israel's Negev Desert. The experiment simulated an earthquake in the southern Negev designed to improve not seismological warning and acoustic reading systems in either Hawaii or earthquake-prone California or Alaska, but in Israel.

The cover story is that the simulated earthquake was designed to improve Israel's earthquake advance warning system. The simulated earthquake, created with 80 tons of explosives, created a 3.0 earthquake on the Richter scale.

The involvement of the Pentagon with Israeli "earthquake" research may involve a much more classified purpose. In 1995, this editor was told by an individual close to Mossad that Israel's intelligence agency was concerned about the Japanese Aum Shrinkyo movement arriving in Belgrade as Yugoslavia was collapsing. Agents of the cult movement were, according to the Mossad, trying to obtain Tesla earthquake-producing technology from notes and papers produced by the scientist on high-energy wave amplification maintained at the Nikola Tesla Institute in Belgrade. Nikola Tesla, a contemporary and one-time employee of Thomas Edison, died in 1943 and is considered the pioneer of alternating current machinery.

The Japanese cult members, who represented to institute officials that they were scientists, photocopied 100,000 Tesla documents. Tesla discovered that by altering the earth's magnetic field with electrical currents, earthquakes could result.

Israel's defense research community has also been interested in Tesla's earthquake- producing technology, which may have been at the heart of the recent Israeli-U.S. earthquake "sensor" test in the Negev. In 1998, Los Alamos National Laboratory produced a super-magnet code-named "Godzilla" that was the world's most powerful repeatable pulsed field magnet. Los Alamos had plans to create a more powerful magnet, twenty times more powerful than Godzilla, code-named Atlas. Atlas was designed with a magnetic field strength of 1000 tesla, 20 million times more powerful than the Earth's natural magnetic field and a potential weapon that could be used to alter the earth's magnetic field creating earthquakes.

There are suspicions that such technology was what was being tested in Israel's Negev Desert on August 27.

One indication is that the Israel and U.S. explanation for the test in the Negev was an intelligence cover story is that the U.S. Geological Survey, which records earthquakes all around the world, has no record of a 3.0 earthquake in the Negev on August 27:

Blackwater before drinking water

by Greg Palast for The Huffington Post

1.
Bless the President for having rescue teams in the air almost immediately. That was President Olafur Grimsson of Iceland. On Wednesday, the AP reported that the President of the United States promised, "The initial contingent of 2,000 Marines could be deployed to the quake-ravaged country within the next few days." "In a few days," Mr. Obama?

2.
There's no such thing as a 'natural' disaster. 200,000 Haitians have been slaughtered by slum housing and IMF "austerity" plans.

3.
A friend of mine called. Do I know a journalist who could get medicine to her father? And she added, trying to hold her voice together, "My sister, she's under the rubble. Is anyone going who can help, anyone?" Should I tell her, "Obama will have Marines there in 'a few days'"?

4.
China deployed rescuers with sniffer dogs within 48 hours. China, Mr. President. China: 8,000 miles distant. Miami: 700 miles close. US bases in Puerto Rico: right there.

5.
Obama's Defense Secretary Robert Gates said, "I don't know how this government could have responded faster or more comprehensively than it has." We know Gates doesn't know.

6.
From my own work in the field, I know that FEMA has access to ready-to-go potable water, generators, mobile medical equipment and more for hurricane relief on the Gulf Coast. It's all still there. Army Lt. Gen. Russel HonorĂ©, who served as the task force commander for emergency response after Hurricane Katrina, told the Christian Science Monitor, “I thought we had learned that from Katrina, take food and water and start evacuating people." Maybe we learned but, apparently, Gates and the Defense Department missed school that day.

7.
Send in the Marines. That's America's response. That's what we're good at. The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson finally showed up after three days. With what? It was dramatically deployed — without any emergency relief supplies. It has sidewinder missiles and 19 helicopters.

8.
But don't worry, the International Search and Rescue Team, fully equipped and self-sufficient for up to seven days in the field, deployed immediately with ten metric tons of tools and equipment, three tons of water, tents, advanced communication equipment and water purifying capability. They're from Iceland.

9.
Gates wouldn't send in food and water because, he said, there was no "structure ... to provide security." For Gates, appointed by Bush and allowed to hang around by Obama, it's security first. That was his lesson from Hurricane Katrina. Blackwater before drinking water.

10.
Previous US presidents have acted far more swiftly in getting troops on the ground on that island. Haiti is the right half of the island of Hispaniola. It's treated like the right testicle of Hell. The Dominican Republic the left. In 1965, when Dominicans demanded the return of Juan Bosch, their elected President, deposed by a junta, Lyndon Johnson reacted to this crisis rapidly, landing 45,000 US Marines on the beaches to prevent the return of the elected president.

11.
How did Haiti end up so economically weakened, with infrastructure, from hospitals to water systems, busted or non-existent - there are two fire stations in the entire nation - and infrastructure so frail that the nation was simply waiting for "nature" to finish it off?

Don’t blame Mother Nature for all this death and destruction. That dishonor goes to Papa Doc and Baby Doc, the Duvalier dictatorship, which looted the nation for 28 years. Papa and his Baby put an estimated 80% of world aid into their own pockets - with the complicity of the US government happy to have the Duvaliers and their voodoo militia, Tonton Macoutes, as allies in the Cold War. (The war was easily won: the Duvaliers’ death squads murdered as many as 60,000 opponents of the regime.)

12.
What Papa and Baby didn't run off with, the IMF finished off through its "austerity" plans. An austerity plan is a form of voodoo orchestrated by economists zomby-fied by an irrational belief that cutting government services will somehow help a nation prosper.

13.
In 1991, five years after the murderous Baby fled, Haitians elected a priest, Jean-Bertrand Aristide, who resisted the IMF's austerity diktats. Within months, the military, to the applause of Papa George HW Bush, deposed him.
History repeats itself, first as tragedy, then as farce. The farce was George W. Bush. In 2004, after the priest Aristide was re-elected President, he was kidnapped and removed again, to the applause of Baby Bush.

14.
Haiti was once a wealthy nation, the wealthiest in the hemisphere, worth more, wrote Voltaire in the 18th century, than that rocky, cold colony known as New England. Haiti's wealth was in black gold: slaves. But then the slaves rebelled - and have been paying for it ever since.

From 1825 to 1947, France forced Haiti to pay an annual fee to reimburse the profits lost by French slaveholders caused by their slaves’ successful uprising. Rather than enslave individual Haitians, France thought it more efficient to simply enslave the entire nation.

15.
Secretary Gates tells us, "There are just some certain facts of life that affect how quickly you can do some of these things." The Navy's hospital boat will be there in, oh, a week or so. Heckuva job, Brownie!

16.
Note just received from my friend. Her sister was found, dead; and her other sister had to bury her. Her father needs his anti-seizure medicines. That's a fact of life too, Mr. President.

Through our journalism network, we are trying to get my friend's medicines to her father. If any reader does have someone getting into or near Port-au-Prince, please contact Haiti@GregPalast.com immediately.

Ansel Herz Reports from Haiti; Jeremy Dupin Reportedly Fine

By Al Giordano

Ansel Herz and Jeremy Dupin, alive and reporting from Port-au-Prince, Haiti

We spent much of the past 24 hours looking for reporters Ansel Herz and Jeremy Dupin - 2010 School of Authentic Journalism scholars - caught in yesterday's 7.3 level earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and finally heard from Ansel this afternoon. He writes:

"I'm fine. Have a lot of footage I want to get out. Working on a written piece. Just found Internet. Do you know if Jeremy's ok? Haven't been able to reach him."

Jeremy is reportedly also fine: according to TeleSur US bureau chief Reed Lindsay - now in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic en route to Port-au-Prince - another staffer from TeleSur was able to reach Jeremy's phone before cell phone service went out last night, speaking to a friend of his who likewise reports he is okay. We will keep hammering away to try and get more information as well as offer any and all logistical support and resources they need to get the story out.

You can listen to Ansel in this audio interview with PBS taken today for an on-the-ground account of the situation outside a UN Peacekeeping Forces base outside of Port-au-Prince describing the scene, as well as what he has seen and heard in his reporting. He says that he had been told last night not to venture downtown, that there could be "violence and theft," but Ansel went anyway and reports he saw no such thing: "Haitians are banding together as best as they can to help each other."

We'll update as we hear more.

Update: Ansel has spoken by telephone with Jeremy, confirming that he's okay. They will meet up tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, Ansel was on CNN with Wolf Blitzer. I'm uploading that interview right now to YouTube...

...and here it is:

He was preceded on CNN by a reporter claiming sensational stories of bandits, looting and unrest (but the only "evidence" cited was a prison warden the national police chief, upset that when a wall fell down the inmates escaped), but Ansel - who has walked miles throughout Port-au-Prince and some of its most impoverished neighborhoods - says that is simply not the case. "I walked the whole way - no one bothered me at all, everyone i talked to offered to help, was asking for info," he just told us.

And there lies the difference between so much commercial media and authentic journalism. Some stay in their hotels and report the rumors they hear. Others, like Ansel Herz, go where the people and the story are happening. I'm so looking forward to the upcoming reports.

Update II: Ansel interviewed on BBC.

Update III: Ansel's brother, Galen, is updating Ansel's blog, MediaHacker.org with info, including his contact info (for media interviews): Cell phone in Haiti +509 3607 3401 "or by e-mail, but limited Internet access. ansel@riseup.net. Also on Skype with username ‘hakomasong.’" (I would just add: please don't clog up his phone line or limited online time unless it is vital for the work of getting the story out. And even when it is vital, be brief. A reporter in a situation like this has to practice triage, and has to work on his own work as well.)
