Another coup plot in Venezuela

Venezuelan security forces seized a stash of explosives in central Venezuela that may have been part of a plot to destabilize the country, said the director of Venezuela's intelligence agency, Disip.

Wednesday evening 5.91 pounds of C-4 explosives, four grenades and 10 electric detonators were confiscated.

Lawmakers announced that they are about to begin debating proposals on the inclusion of compulsory service in the home guard. Army spokesman Gen Alberto Mueller Rojas said the country needs a civilian reserve big enough to deter any would-be aggressors.
