Trump purges State Dept. of Soros and Israel ally By Wayne Madsen ReportIn what appears to be a total housecleaning of top-level diplomats at the U.S. State Department, President Trump fired longtime friend of Israel, Thomas Countryman, as the acting Under Secretary of State for International Security Affairs, an office known simply as the "T" office. In fact, according to a tweet sent out on January 26 by Bathsheba  (Sheba) Crocker, the former Assistant Secretary for International Organizations, Countryman was told to leave office on January 27 while he was en route to Rome for a non-proliferation meeting. Although the name of the meeting was not identified, there is a conference scheduled on Combating Terrorism, sponsored by the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) Model United Nations at the American University of John Cabot in Rome from January 25-29, 2017. The conference appears to have links to NGOs in Sarajevo, Mostar, Belgrade, Munich, and Bucharest that are financed by George Soros.



Crocker is the daughter of longtime State Department diplomat and the former Assistant Secretary of State Chester Crocker, a close associate and acolyte of Henry Kissinger.

Crocker was also chief of staff to Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg under Hillary Clinton. Steinberg also ensured that Countryman was placed within key State Department elements relating to protection of Israel's nuclear weapons stockpile and furthering the operations of Soros. Countryman has served as special adviser to U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Madeleine Albright, liaison to the Clinton National Security Council's pro-Israeli special Middle East envoy Dennis Ross -- described by many Palestinians as "more pro-Israeli than the Israelis," Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, Deputy Assistant Secretary for European Affairs responsible for the Balkans, and lastly, Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation. Countryman has been serving as the acting head of the "T" office.

Countryman speaks Arabic and Serbo-Croatian, which made him a key player in fronting for Israeli interests in the Arab world and furthering Soros's and the Central Intelligence Agency's destabilization operations in the Balkans.

WMR's sources in the Middle East know Countryman as the primary diplomat at State who bristled at the suggestion that Israel possesses nuclear weapons and always sought to change the subject. WMR learned from U.S. intelligence sources that Countryman was an important link in the covert supply of weapons grade plutonium from the United States for the modernization of Israel's aging nuclear weapons arsenal. Being in charge of nuclear nonproliferation at State was a perfect cover for Israel's nuclear supply operations.

Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria (aka "Toria") Nuland also resigned her position, although there were some reports that the Trump transition team asked her to remain. Nuland was one of the masterminds of the Euromaidan revolution in Ukraine that plunged that nation into a civil war. Nuland is married to the arch-neocon Robert Kagan, a fellow traveler of Countryman and Sheba Crocker at the Brookings Institution.

The purge at State is noteworthy. Although Trump has vowed to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, expressed support for Israeli right-wing prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu, and is being advised on Middle East matters by his pro-Likud son-in-law Jared Kushner, someone in the Trump White House is paradoxically purging the State Department of several long-serving pro-Israeli career diplomats. State was long the domain of a number of Arabic-speaking diplomats, known as "Arabists," who made no secret of their slant toward the Arab countries and their antipathy toward Israel. Secretary of State-designate Rex Tillerson, who has close ties to a number of Arab governments owing to his position as CEO of Exxon Mobil, may be trying to steer Foggy Bottom back to a more neutral position on Middle Eastern affairs.

Two Central Intelligence Agency reports on the problems of the CIA's Counter-terrorism Center (CTC), one issued in August 2001, a little over two weeks before the 9/11 attack, and the other issued in June 2005, contain much of the information in the missing 28-pages from the Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001. Former Senator Bob Graham (D-FL), the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and a principal author of the joint inquiry report, has, along with three senators and three U.S. representatives, urged the 28 pages to be declassified.

The first report, classified SECRET NOFORN [No foreign dissemination], is the"Inspection Report of the DCI Counterterrorism Center Directorate of Operations," dated August 2001. The second report, classified TOP SECRET/HCS [Humint Control System]/SI [Special Intelligence]/NOFORN/ORCON [Originator controls dissemination and/or release of the document] is the "Office of Inspector General Report on Central Intelligence Agency Accountability Regarding Findings and Conclusions  of the Report of the Joint Inquiry Into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001." Both reports are heavily redacted. The information revealed in the second report, which was prepared in response to the findings contained in Graham's report, bolster WMR's previous reports that the missing 28-pages link Saudi government officials to the 9/11 attack and imply that Israel withheld important intelligence from the United States on the impeding attacks and may have been in collusion with the Saudis to see that the attack was carried out.

The most damning revelation is on page 20 of the second report from 2005, which implies that the CIA's CTC took a sabbatical on all "intelligence reports" (IRs) on terrorist activity in Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen. Yemen was the ancestral home of Osama bin Laden. The report states that CTC personnel did not prepare any terrorist activity summaries during the late spring or summer of 2001 that provided any assessment of the overall threat. BY not focusing on Israel, Saudi Arabia, or Bin Laden associates' activities in Yemen, other U.S. intelligence agencies were blind to the impending attack.

The key paragraph is:

"Although the CIA used many vehicles to inform the policymakers of the threat [of impeding terrorist attacks], CTC analysts did not write any Intelligence Report (IR) or similar product during the late spring or summer that provided any assessment of the overall threat. IRs earlier in the year warned of threats in Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Yemen; between mid-May 2001 and 9/11, however, CTC wrote no IRs that provided a comprehensive analysis of all the threats being received [emphasis added] or that put the then-current warning environment in context. In fact, the few IRs that CTC wrote during the late spring and summer included no threat warnings at all."



In other words, the CTC ignored reports emanating from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals Service, Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Coast Guard, National Guard, state and local police, and other agencies about fake Israeli "art students," all with experience as Israeli military and intelligence operatives, casing federal facilities and offices, as well as the homes of federal employees, all within the same areas where the alleged 9/11 Saudi, Egyptian, and Yemeni hijackers maintained residences. The CIA's Counterterrorism Center "stood down" during the height of seemingly joint Israeli intelligence and Arab hijacker activity that ranged from Jersey City to Hollywood, Florida and Irving, Texas to San Diego. WMR was told by those who read the missing 28-pages from the Joint Congressional report that Saudi-Israeli collusion in the 9/11 attack can be extrapolated from the footnoted material. The June 2005 CIA report largely provides the information that remains redacted in the Joint Inquiry.

Page 227 of the second report also states that critical CIA intelligence assets were devoted in the six months preceding 9/11 not to Al Qaeda, which was a demonstrated threat to the United States, but to "Hizballah" or Lebanese Hezbollah. While Hezbollah is a sworn enemy of Israel it was not a hostile threat to the United States. The report states, " . . . about three-quarters of the pieces for the Senior Executive Intelligence Brief (SEIB) that AIG [Assessment and Information Group] did during the six months prior to 9/11 covered terrorist groups other than al-Qa'ida, such as Hizballah." This fact also indicates Israeli intelligence and pro-Israeli neo-conservative interference with the U.S. intelligence posture prior to 9/11.





Page 257 suggests that the CTC was as much or more concerned about "anti-globalists" committing terrorist attacks in July 2001 than Al Qaeda.




The 2005 CIA report also states that the Joint Inquiry criticized the CIA for devoting too much time on non-Al Qaeda threats.

The CIA report also states that according to the Joint Inquiry (JI), the CIA withheld information from the FBI about the pe-9/11 planning meeting in Malaysia of Al Qaeda hijackers Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar and al-Mihdhar's visa to enter the United States. Nor was action taken on four Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) leads on al-Mihdhar, al-Hazmi, Zacarias Moussaoui (the so-called "20th hijacker"), and the Malaysia terrorist summit. This is an obvious reference to the DIA's Able Danger program that was abruptly shut down after 9/11.



Page 324 of the CIA report states that the Joint Inquiry criticized the CIA's over-reliance on "foreign services to develop human sources," thus meaning that the CIA had "insufficient focus on unilateral operations." It is known that one of the foreign services that the CIA relied on too heavily for human intelligence, even intelligence that proved bogus and incomplete, was Israel's Mossad. In a February 16, 2005, memo from former CIA director George Tenet to the CIA Inspector General, Tenet states that his plan to concentrate CIA intelligence gathering on the sanctuaries of Bin Laden and his associates in "Sudan, Lebanon, Yemen, and, most importantly, Afghanistan" were briefed to "former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and former DCIs Helms and Woolsey." Kissinger and Woolsey are known ciphers for Israeli intelligence. Kissinger and Woolsey, private citizens at the time of their briefings by Tenet, likely served as important leaks to the Mossad about what the CIA knew about Al Qaeda's future plans.


The CIA report notes that a few officials within the CTC and the CIA's Near East Division speculated that "dissident sympathizers" within the Saudi government may have aided Al Qaeda and that "'a few Saudi Government officials' may support Usama Bin Laden (UBL)." The section of the report dealing with Saudi government complicity in 9/11 is heavily redacted.



WMR has previously reported that among those Saudi officials who aided and abetted Al Qaeda and the 9/11 attack was present Saudi King Salman, the Governor of Riyadh province in 2001, and Prince Bandar, the Saudi ambassador in Washington who was so close to the Bush family he became known as "Bandar Bush."

A formerly SECRET NOFORN (No Foreign Dissemination) message, dated August 5, 2012, to the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) from a redacted U.S. government agency, provides more evidence that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), otherwise known as the Islamic State or "Da'ish," was a construct of U.S. intelligence. As WMR reported in the past, ISIL was also incubated and sustained by the Saudi, Qatari, Turkish, and Israeli intelligence services.

The message, declassified as the result of a Freedom of Information Act request submitted by Judicial Watch, a conservative organization, indicates that the intelligence on ISIL was "not finally evaluated," which means it was not sanitized and editorialized by the political operatives within the U.S. intelligence community.

The message released is unusual in that some of the action and information "addees" have been redacted, which is not normally the case with declassified message traffic, whether it is originated by the Defense Department, State Department, or U.S. intelligence agencies.

The message leads off with the following: "The Salafist, the Muslim Brotherhood, and AQI [Al Qaeda in Iraq] are the major forces driving the insurgency in Iraq." The message goes on to state: "The West, Gulf countries, and Turkey support the [Syrian] opposition; while Russia, China, and Iran support the regime." The "regime" is the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The message also states: "AQI supported the Syrian opposition from the beginning, both ideologically and through the media . . . and conducted a number of operations in several under the name of Jaish al Nusra (Victorious Army), one of its affiliates."

There is also a direct reference to the similarity of Western support for the Syrian and Iraqi jihadists and those who emerged in Libya following the overthrow of Muammar el-Qaddafi. This support was directed to internationally-supported "safe havens" harboring the jihadist and Salafist forces: "Opposition forces are trying to control the eastern areas (Hasaka and Der Zor), adjacent to the western Iraqi provinces (Mosul and Anbar), in addition to neighboring Turkish borders. Western countries, the Gulf countries and Turkey are supporting these efforts[emphasis added]. This hypothesis is most likely in accordance with the data from recent events, which will help prepare safe havens under international sheltering, similar to what transpired in Libya when Benghazi was chosen as the command center of the temporary government." What the message does not state is that the "safe havens" in Syria, Iraq, and Benghazi were the locations where the Islamic State and its allies declared a caliphate (the Islamic caliphate in Syria and Iraq) and an emirate (the Emirate of Derna in eastern Libya). 

The operative paragraph states that the "supporting powers to the opposition" want to establish "declared or undeclared Salafist principality in eastern Syria (Hasaka and Der Zor), and this is exactly what the supporting powers [Western countries, the Gulf countries and Turkey} want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime, which is considered the strategic depth of the Shia expansion (Iraq and Iran).



The Western powers -- the United States, Britain, France, and, more importantly, Israel -- working in concert with the Gulf countries [Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Bahrain], as well as Turkey, according to U.S. intelligence, created ISIL to destroy the Shia-dominated nations of Syria and Iraq. The fall of Palmyra in Syria and Ramadi in Iraq are a result of this conspiracy of "supporting powers." The civil war in Yemen that has seen the very same "supporting powers," including Egypt, providing military forces to fight the Shi'a-aligned Houthi rebels is, like the civil wars in Syria and Iraq, of U.S. Saudi, Israeli, and Turkish design. Ultimately, Iran is the target for the "supporting powers" of ISIL and its allies.

WMR has been reporting on the NATO and Gulf Arab support for ISIL since the group first raised its black and white caliphate flag in Syria. Syrian rebels, who later formed the core of ISIL, were photographed with Senator John McCain during a covert foray by his and his assistant, Elizabeth O'Bagy, into a rebel-held "safe haven" in Syria. Among those photographed with McCain was the future Islamic State caliph, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

In a three-part series in September 2014, WMR reported the following: "The deeper one digs into the operations surrounding the 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL), or, as it is variably called, 'Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham' (ISIS), 'Al Dawlah' (the State), or 'Da'ish' (a concatenation of 'al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi Iraq wa al-Sham,' the more the Islamist insurgent group's links to Western and Israeli intelligence are revealed . . . There is every indication that ISIL has significant links to Israel. Although there are claims to the contrary, ISIL absorbed most of the ranks of the Al Qaeda-affiliated Jabhat al-Nusra (Al Nusra Front) Islamist insurgent group in Syria. Al Nusra Front has coordinated its seizure of Syrian army positions along the Golan Heights border with the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). Rather than hit back at Al Nusra positions on the Syrian side of the Golan frontier, the Israelis attacked Syrian army positions, giving a boost to the Syrian campaigns of Al Nusra in particular and ISIL in general. There are reports that the Israeli military has been given the coordinates of Syrian army and Hezbollah forces, as well as 'Committees for the Defense of the Homeland' militia forces of Alawites, Shi'as, Christians, and Druze, by Al-Nusra/ISIL to launch missile and drone attacks from the Israeli side of the border . . . 
The grand master of Israel's Zionist policies, former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, recently stated that Iran was a bigger threat than ISIL. Prospective Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton recently lavishly praised Kissinger in a review of his new book, 'World Order.'"

Our September 2014 report continued: "ISIL/Al Nusra is enriching itself from ransom payments for hostages being received mostly from Qatar, a member of Obama's newly-formed 'coalition' to fight ISIL. The most recent ransom paid by Qatar to ISIL was for 45 Fijian peacekeepers captured by ISIL's Al Nusra allies in the Golan region of Syria bordering Israel. Qatar also paid ransom payments to Al Nusra-ISIL units for some Syrian nuns and captured Lebanese Army soldiers. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is, under Obama's 'coalition,' training so-called Free Syrian Army 'moderates' to fight ISIL/Al Nusra and the Assad government. In the past,  the Saudis have conducted such training to radicalize Sunni Muslim volunteers for the Syrian civil war and funnel them to ISIL units in Syria and Iraq."

As we previously stressed, the idea of moderate Syrian rebels is a ruse. The August 2012 U.S. intelligence report states that the core of the Syrian opposition was the Salafists, Al Qaeda in Iraq, and the Muslim Brotherhood, none of which represent anything "moderate."

There were a number of other indications about the "supporting powers'" support for ISIL. A truck carrying factory-fresh black and white ISIL flags through northern Israel to the Syrian-Lebanese border drooped one of the bags and it was found by some local Israeli farmers. Israeli commandos were witnessed delivering weapons to ISIL forces in Iraq's western Anbar province. The details of the discovery of the ISIL flags in Israel was 
that gardeners in the northern Israeli city of Nazareth Illit discovered a bag containing about 25 new black-and-white ISIL flags." In May 2015, ISIL rings bearing the same Arabic inscription that appears on the ISIL flag were "confiscated" at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv. The rings were said to be destined for Gaza via Ramallah in the West Bank and had been shipped from Turkey.

WMR also reported that "many of the ISIL guerrillas are ethnic Chechens who have either citizenship of or permanent residency in the Republic of Georgia. Moreover, ISIL has been selling oil from areas it occupies in Syria and Iraq to Ukraine via Turkish middlemen. ISIL/Jabhat al Nusra/Al Qaeda fighters, many of them Chechens but also some Syrian Arabs, are also suspected of assisting neo-Nazi Ukrainian Right Sector and 'Maidan Self-Defense Force' paramilitaries in carrying out the massacre of 48 Russian-speakers inside Odessa'sHouse of Trade Unions last May. Ironically, some of these ISIL units have also fought in eastern Ukraine alongside Ukrainian paramilitary battalions, including the Azov Battalion, funded by Ukrainian-Israeli billionaire oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky. In return for their assistance in Ukraine, ISIL units are receiving military support in Syria and Iraq from Ukrainian military and paramilitary sources . . . ISIL and Turkish forces have been photographed embracing one another on the Turkish-Syrian frontier in Kobani as ISIL forces pound Syrian Kurdish forces trying to maintain control of the city."

On February 25, 2015, WMR reported on an ISIL affiliate operative who, in the past, worked for the French external intelligence service, Direction générale de la sécurité extérieure -- DGSE: "The ex-French agent is David Drugeon who is now a leader of the Khorasan Group in Syria. On October 5, 2014, McClatchy news service reported that Drugeon "defected" from DGSE to Al Qaeda. Although Western intelligence finds it useful to separate ISIL or the Islamic State, the Khorasan Group, Al Qaeda, and the Al Nusra Front, on the Syrian and Iraqi battlefields these group fight under the same command and same black and white jihadist banner."

Our February report continued: "Israel's military and intelligence services have also reportedly provided assistance to Al Nusra in Syria and ISIL in Iraq. Hakem al-Zameli, the chairman of the Iraqi Parliament's National Security and Defense Committee, stated that Iraq's armed forces shot down two British planes that were carrying weapons to ISIL in Anbar province, the same province where Israeli commandos have been witnessed transferring weapons to ISIL forces. Al-Zameli also said that his committee is receiving daily reports from Anbar province about successive U.S. coalition planes airdropping weapons and and other materials for ISIL in areas held by the jihadist group.
Khalaf Tarmouz, the head of the Anbar Provincial Council said local officials have discovered U.S., European, and Israeli weapons from the areas liberated from ISIL in the Al-Baqdadi region. The Iraqi government has also reported U.S. coalition forces have airdropped weapons to support ISIL in Salahuddin, Al-Anbar and Diyala provinces. Member of Parliament Majid al-Gharawi said he was aware of U.S. airdrops of weapons for ISIL in Salahuddin and other Iraqi provinces.

Al-Zameli said, 'The US drops weapons for the ISIL on the excuse of not knowing about the whereabouts of the ISIL positions and it is trying to distort the reality with its allegations.' He said evidence has been provided by Iraqi army officers and other Iraqi forces.

Iranian Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri has confirmed the Iraqi government reports. He said, 'The U.S. and the so-called anti-ISIL coalition claim that they have launched a campaign against this terrorist and criminal group – while supplying them with weapons, food and medicine in Jalawla region [in Diyala Governorate].'

Western intelligence links to ISIL are beginning to be exposed around the world. Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov has stated that ISIL's leader, Ibrahim Samarrai, aka 'Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, [McCain's friend] is a Central Intelligence Agency operative who receives financial backing from Western intelligence services. From reports coming from Iraq and Syria, the links between the violent jihadists and their CIA, MI-6, DGSE, and Mossad overseers are becoming abundantly clear."
WMR reported the following month, March, the following: "Recently, the leader of Lebanon's Druze Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, who has been an erratic on-and-off supporter of Israel, concluded an agreement with the Al Nusra Front and its Syrian Al Qaeda affiliate. Jumblatt concluded the agreement even though his fellow Druze in Idlib, Syria have been given an ultimatum by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) to convert to Wahhabi Islam and destroy their shrines and mausoleums to their religious icons or face execution. Jumblatt is reported by the Lebanese press to have arranged for the forced conversions of the Idlib Druze in exchange for their lives using the offices of the United Arab Emirates.

It has also been reported in the Lebanese press that Israel has helped arrange for contacts, using Jordanian intelligence interlocutors, between Al Nusra/Al Qaeda and the Syrian Druze. Israel has offered military and intelligence support to the Syrian Druze if they attack Syrian government forces and their Lebanese Hezbollah allies in Syria.
Arab media has also reported that Iraqi Hezbollah captured three U.S.-Israeli 'advisers,' along with their U.S. and Israeli passports, and a fourth Israeli citizen in possession of a passport from an unnamed Persian Gulf country, at an ISIL command center in Mosul province. The ISIL command center was captured by Iraqi special forces troops in 'Operation Scorpion Sting' after word reached the authorities in Baghdad that U.S. and Israeli advisers had helped set up a state-of-the-art command center in Tal Abat, in Mosul province. WMR previously reported that Iraqi troops and local Sunni tribes have witnessed Israeli commandos handing over weapons to ISIL guerrillas in Anbar province."

The involvement of Canadian intelligence in support of ISIL was contained in the same report: "Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu revealed that Turkish authorities arrested a foreign intelligence agent, believed to be an asset of the Canadian Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS), who was charged with helping three British schoolgirls travel from Britain through Turkey and then into Syria to join ISIL. Under the Stephen Harper government, Canadian intelligence has been ordered to assist Mossad in all matters requested by the Israelis. The arrested agent is Mohammed Mehmet Rashid, aka 'Doctor Mehmet Rashid,' Mohammed al Rashid, and Mohammad Al Rashed, who reported to Bruno Saccomani, the Canadian ambassador to Jordan and Iraq and a former Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer who was the head of Harper’s personal security detail until he was appointed ambassador to Amman." In addition: "Russian President Vladimir Putin's aide Alexander Prokhanov charged last December [2014] that Mossad was training ISIL's leadership . . .National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden revealed that British and U.S. intelligence and Mossad worked together to create ISIL in an operation dubbed 'Hornet's Nest.' . . . Adrian Kaba, who represents Sweden's ruling Social Democratic Party on the Malmo City Council and the regional government, wrote in 2014 that Mossad provided training to ISIL. Kaba wrote on his Facebook page that 'ISIS is being trained by the Israeli Mossad. Muslims are not waging war, they are being used as pawns by other peoples’ game.' . . . Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman suggested ISIL-style beheadings for Israeli Arabs suspected of supporting terrorism . . . According to former FBI agent John Guandolo, the Jesuit-educated Brennan secretly converted to Wahhabi Islam while he served as CIA station chief in Riyadh in the 1990s. In February 2013, Guandolo stated, 'Mr. Brennan did convert to Islam when he served in an official capacity on the behalf of the United States in Saudi Arabia.' Guandolo also said Brennan's life 'was interwoven with individuals that were labeled as terrorists' and that Brennan has spoken in positive terms of 'jihad' or Islamic holy war."

The Saudi government's connection to ISIL is a solid as was its links to the 9/11 "terrorists." On July 2, 2014, WMR had this report: "[Saudi intelligence chief Prince] Bandar, on a pre-Sochi Olympics trip to Moscow, offered Russia a lucrative weapons deal if Russia ceased its support for Assad. Putin reportedly ordered Bandar out of his office in the Kremlin."

In another example of how the Saudis and ISIL are on the same page, it was a Saudi military checkpoint that allowed an ISIL terrorist unit to enter the town of Qadih in eastern Saudi Arabia to bomb a Shi'a mosque.There was not one criticism of the Saudi regime in the official statement [below] issued by ISIL taking credit for the deadly blast at the mosque.

The recent internal Saudi palace "coup" that saw King Salman replace his brother Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz as Crown Prince with Salman's nephew, Prince Mohammed bin Nayaf, is an indication that the decades-long but highly secret U.S.-Israeli-Saudi special alliance is undergoing a dramatic transformation.

Since the fall of the Shah of Iran in 1979, U.S. military support for Saudi Arabia's defense needs has had the quiet support of successive Israeli governments that saw the Saudis as a critical bulwark against Iran and any Shi'a-led revolutions in the Persian Gulf and on the Arabian peninsula. The effective Zaidi Houthi takeover of Yemen has resulted in even closer relations between Riyadh and Jerusalem. The Zaidis, a sect close to the Shi'as, are pro-Iranian. However, the American component of the tripartite alliance is no longer guaranteed as Washington seeks a nuclear deal with Iran and closer relations with Tehran  in other arenas.

Salman also replaced other Cabinet ministers, including the long-serving foreign minister Saud al-Faisal. Saud has been replaced by the long-serving Saudi ambassador to the United States, the non-royal Adel al-Jubeir, a favorite of the Israelis and Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan, the former CIA station chief in Riyadh and a known Saudophile.

Salman's ambitious son, Mohammed Bin Salman, was named the new deputy Crown Prince. Salman's changes were seen by observers as bolstering the most anti-Iranian members of the Saudi regime, which, of course, is very welcomed by the Israeli government, which, under Binyamin Netanyahu's fourth term as prime minister, is the most right-wing and internationally aggressive in Israel's history.

The intellectual architect of the Riyadh-Jerusalem-Washington alliance was an Egyptian-Jewish Zionist and paid CIA consultant at Harvard University named Nadav Safran. In 1946, Safran, born Nadav Za’farani, moved from Cairo to a kibbutz in Palestine and fought as a commando against the British and Arabs in Israel's independence war, served as the director of Harvard's Center for Middle Eastern Studies. Although Safran died in 2003, his work on U.S.-Saudi relations, which on its face seems odd for an Israeli-American, laid the basis for the secret cooperation between the three countries, particularly with regard to Iran. In 1985, Safran published a book, Saudi Arabia: The Ceaseless Quest for Security, which closely examined Saudi security concerns and served as a virtual blueprint for future U.S. military aid to Saudi Arabia. The book was written pursuant to a secret CIA grant to Safran for $107,430. The Boston Globe published a copy of Safran's contract, dated April 13, 1982, with the CIA. Although Harvard University Press published the book, the university claimed it was unaware of the CIA contract with Safran.

In 1986, Safran resigned from the Center for Middle East Studies over his connections with the CIA. Safran's other books that significantly influenced U.S. Middle Eastern policy included, Israel: The Embattled Ally, published in 1978 during the Camp David negotiations, and Egypt in Search of Political Community, published the same year that President Anwar Sadat was assassinated.


The brains behind the not-so-secret U.S.-Saudi-Israeli alliance was Israeli-American Nadav Safran, a CIA-paid academic who likely influenced the thinking of current CIA director John O. Brennan.

Harvard's Center for International Studies had a long association with the CIA. Furthermore, Harvard was well aware that in 1985, Safran received an additional $50,000 from the CIA to organize two seminars, one on Islamic fundamentalism and the other on the Persian Gulf. The CIA laundered much of the money through the RAND Corporation. Safran was a close colleague of another pro-Israeli ex-Harvard academic on the U.S. government's payroll, Richard Pipes, who, in the 1980s, taught at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. Safran remained with Harvard's Department of Government until 1990 where he continued to maintain a relationship with the U.S. government in the months prior to the start of Operation Desert Storm against Iraq.

U.S. policymakers in the Reagan, Bush 41, Clinton, Bush 43, and Obama administrations would use Safran's book to shape their own attitudes toward the Saudi regime. However, as the Obama administration seeks a breakthrough on U.S.-Iranian relations, the Safran book has lost much of its importance in the current environment.

Safran also served as a CIA conduit to the press and his conflict-of-interest would serve as a template for future academics and journalists who claimed independence while accepting covert payments from the U.S. intelligence and defense communities. In 1990, Safran penned an op-ed for The New York Times that called on the Bush 41 administration to reject any peace feelers from Saddam Hussein. Safran was pushing the Israeli and Saudi line that Saddam should be dealt with harshly after Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.

One of Safran's colleagues at Harvard, Laurie Mylroie, became one of the chief purveyors of the bogus meme that Iraq was behind the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. Mylroie's 2000 book, Study of Revenge; Saddam Hussein's Unfinished War Against America, was cited by former CIA director James Woolsey as "brilliant and brave." The book would later be cited as one of the reasons why the U.S. had to invade and occupy Iraq after 9/11.

The scenes are all-too-familiar in the Middle East. Jihadists witnessed destroying priceless artifacts in Arab museums and libraries. However, documenting a few vases of artifacts being destroyed actually masks the looting of these artifacts and their sale on an international black market with Israelis usually serving as the middlemen or ultimate buyers for their private collections.

Videos have appeared on the Internet showing Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) -- we prefer this term as does the United States government because it accurately reflects the similarity of the name to ISIL's main state sponsor - "Israel" -- jihadists taking sledgehammers and chain saws to ancient Assyrian artifacts at the Mosul museum in Iraq. In addition, ancient Assyrian churches in northeastern Syria are being ransacked and looted with priceless Christian artifacts and Assyrian language manuscripts written in Aramaic, the language of Jesus, feared sold by ISIL on the black market.

Although ISIL videos show jihadists destroying an Assyrian winged lion and a relief of a face, priceless archaeological finds from the Assyrian palace of King Sennacherib are believed to have been sold to black marketers just as other artifacts looted from museums and ruins in Egypt, Babylon, Libya, Syria, Pakistan, and Yemen have been sold to unscrupulous dealers of stolen antiquities, many of whom are based in Israel.

On January 31, 2011, WMR reported: "One thing is always true of the kleptocratic syndicate that runs Israel: never let a crisis go to waste. The 'made for television' looting of the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo, a museum established in 1902 to stem the tide of the systematic theft of Egyptian historical artifacts and relics by unscrupulous western nations, including Britain, may have masked the behind-the-scenes pillaging of artifacts located in museum store rooms, well-beyond the view of visitors." On February 14, 2011, WMR followed up our report: ". . .18 priceless artifacts were stolen from the Cairo museum on January 28, at the outset Egyptian revolution. Reports from Cairo indicate the thieves who stole the artifacts, after repelling from ropes through a broken window on the museum's roof, knew exactly what to steal."

This editor has tracked the systematic looting of Middle Eastern antiquities by suspected Israeli "hit teams" since 2003. After the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq, U.S. troops stood idly by while professional teams of museum thieves made off with priceless artifacts from Iraq's National Museum in Baghdad. Some 170,000 priceless artifacts dating back thousands of years to the very cradle of human civilization in the Tigris-Euphrates Valley, the fabled home of the biblical Garden of Eden, were looted. Only a few were destroyed in a perception management operation to make it appear that most were simply destroyed,just as is the case in Mosul and northeastern Syria.

On February 14, 2011, WMR followed up with details of the looting that occurred during the "Egyptian Spring" riots: "Reports from Cairo confirm that among the artifacts stolen were a limestone statue of Pharaoh Akhenaten; a sandstone head of a princess from Amarna; a stone statuette of a scribe from Amarna; eleven wooden statuettes of Yuya, an 18th dynasty figure; a statue of Queen Nefertiti; and two statues, one gilded, of boy king Tutankhamun. Another secure artifact storage site within the royal necropolis at Dahshur, south of Cairo, was also broken into."

Artifacts from the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo, including those from the Umayyad, Abbasid, Tulunid, Fatimid, Ayubid, Mameluk and Ottoman eras, also ended up in the hands of black marketers, with many ending up in private hands in Israel or among Jewish fences in Europe.

On August 21, 2007, WMR reported on the Israeli connection to the looting in the Arab countries: "The Israeli media is reporting that Chief Superintendent Asher Ben-Artzi, the chief of Israel's INTERPOL branch, is under official police investigation for using his contacts at the U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem to help wanted criminals in Israel obtain visas to visit the United States . . . It is also being reported that Ben-Artzi is under investigation for receiving stolen "relics."

Even the hopelessly Zionist-oriented Jerusalem Post reported the following at the time: "Cmdr. Asher Ben-Artzi's office in Jerusalem has Artifacts spanning thousands of years - including clay pitchers, an ossuary and a collection of wood pipes - cover every surface of the spacious room, creating an atmosphere more suited to that of a museum than of the National Police Headquarters."

On August 17, 2007, WMR reported, ". . . the looting of Iraqi treasures has been surgical and accomplished by outsiders who know in advance what they wish to obtain. Arab interlocutors based in Beirut, Geneva, London, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai are laundering money made from the looting of Iraqi artifacts. Much of the money is being used to fund various right-wing and neocon causes in the United States, Europe, and other regions."

We can also add to this report that Israel has been one of the destinations for a number of stolen artifacts and relics from Iraq, especially relics that have historical significance dating from the 'Babylonian Captivity' of the Biblical-era Jewish people."

After the overthrow of Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi, the Israeli gangsters showed up on the scene to pick clean wanted artifacts from the Al-Jamahiriyah National Museum in Tripoli, Roman and Phoenician ruins around the country, and smaller museums in cities like Benghazi and Sirte. Israeli and American pressure have prevented the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) from pursuing the perpetrators of the looting and the ultimate purchasers of the stolen Libyan artifacts from the Neolithic, Berber, Garamantian, Phoenician, Punic, Greek, Roman and Byzantine eras, as well as looted artifacts from Iraq, Syria, Egypt, and Yemen. The theft of the Libyan artifacts even included stealing prehistoric cave paintings in the Acacus Mountains, artwork dated at 14,000 years old. Highly professional teams of looters pressed silk cloth soaked in a special chemical solution on to the rock frescoes with the paint lifting from the walls and sticking to the cloth.

Other professional teams of looters, linked to Israel, hit the Abyan Museum in Zinjibar, Yemen. "Al Qaeda" leveled the museum but not before teams of looters picked the museum clean of hundreds of antiquities. It is feared that the National Museum in Sana'a suffered similar looting during recent fighting in the capital.

The same network of looters cleaned out museums in Syria. UNESCO reported that
"a group posing as security personnel removed a number of crates containing significant archaeological objects from the [Raqqa] museum’s warehouse under the false pretext of moving the crates to a secure storage facility." Such professional "lightning strikes" are a hallmark of the Israeli looting teams and in the case of Raqqa the looting took place under the eyes of ISIL. Similar professional teams struck the Museum of Folklore in Hama that saw the theft of priceless glassware, Baghdadi daggers, spears and other irreplaceable items. The Maarrat Museum was stormed by an armed group that looted small clay dolls and statues.

It is doubtful that any member of the Israel-centric U.S. Congress will mention Israel's central role in stealing thousands of artifacts when Binyamin Netanyahu comes calling.

The one thing that neo-cons deserve credit on is persistence. Even after the neocons sought to fool the international public with obviously forged foreign ministry documents from Niger that were used by the George W. Bush administration to justify going to war with Iraq and forged Iraqi Oil Ministry documents that were used to tarnish the reputations of several political leaders who opposed the U.S. invasion of Iraq, the neocons are at it again. 

This time, a purported arrest warrant for Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and Foreign Minister Hector Timerman for reaching a deal with Iran to shield Iranian officials wanted for planning the 1994 bombing of a Jewish center in Buenos Aires was reportedly "found" by investigators in a rubbish bin at the home of Argentine prosecutor Alberto Nisman, the alleged author of the arrest warrant. 

Nisman is said to have committed suicide in the bathroom of his Buenos Aires apartment on January 18 of this year. Forensics have shown that there was no other DNA found on the gun Nisman is said to have used to fire a single bullet into his head. Kirchner alleged that Nisman's death may have been a murder carried out by shadowy intelligence figures trying to discredit her and her administration. Kirchner has taken a decidedly anti-Israeli position with her support for Palestine and the establishment of friendly relations with Iran. Kirchner's foreign policy has irked the Israelis and Mossad, which have a heavy presence in Argentina. Kirchner announced that because of her suspicions about agents within the Argentine SIDE intelligence service carrying out a hit on Nisman, she was scrapping the agency and replacing it with a new federal intelligence agency. Presumably, such a move would clean out any Israeli intelligence plants who may have assisted in the possible murder of Nisman -- what would amount to a classic Mossad "false flag" operation in sacrificing a single Jew -- Nisman -- for the greater goals of Israel.

Only photographs of the alleged 26-page arrest warrant were published by the anti-Kirchner newspaper Clarin. Goldman Sachs is a major investor in the Clarin Group, Clarin's parent company. At first, Nisman's assistant prosecutor, Viviana Fein, denied the existence of the arrest warrant. However, she later changed her story and confirmed that the warrant published by Clarin was authentic and that she "mis-spoke" in her earlier statement. It is instructive to note that Nisman was Jewish as is Fein, an important fact that The New York Times chose to ignore in its reporting on the story.

The role of Clarin in disseminating anti-Kirchner is no surprise. The Western media has failed to report that Foreign Minister Timerman, named in the dubious "arrest warrant" is himself a newspaper editor and a longtime competitor, as was his father, Jacobo Timerman, of Clarin. The elder Timerman published the leftist La Opinion and his son, the present Foreign Minister, was editor-in-chief of La Tarde, also left-wing. Attempts by the Israel Lobby to tar Kirchner fall flat in the face of the fact that the Timermans are Jewish but not beholden to Israeli or Zionist interests in Argentina..

Nisman alleged that Kirchner has agreed to swap Argentine grain for Iranian oil in return for dropping Argentina's investigation of the 1994 bombing of the AMIA. On October 24, 2014, WMR reported on the steady warfare being waged by Israel and its allies against Kirchner, both at home and abroad:

Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner witnessed her September 24 speech to the UN General Assembly interrupted by what UN officials called "technical difficulties." In fact, Kirchner's speech was censored by the UN amid catcalls from the Israeli delegation and New York Zionist Jews specifically placed by the Israelis in the public gallery to boo those world leaders who criticized the Jewish state's policies.

Kirchner has been subjected to a vicious Zionist campaign launched against its financial system by the Elliott Management Fund, the "vulture" hedge fund owned by New York Zionist and neo-conservative Republican Paul Singer. In 2002, after Argentina defaulted on its debt, Singer's Cayman Islands-based NML Capital Limited bought the devalued Argentina bonds knowing full well he would be lucky to get 30 cents on the dollar. However, Singer began a shake down of Argentina to squeeze more money out of its financially-troubled economy. NML convinced Ghana to seize the Argentine naval training ship Libertad in 2012. Mark Brodsky, Singer's former Elliott Management Fund executive and now head of Aurelius Capital Management, joined in the extortion of Argentina in demanding that a portion of the $1.2 billion debt be paid not only to Singer but also to his fund.

The Israeli media avoids the use of "vulture" funds to describe contrivances like those of Singer and Brodsky. It prefers to use "hold-out funds," which places the onus on the debtors and not the unscrupulous collectors.

A Singer-owned U.S. federal judge in New York, Thomas Griesa, ordered Argentina to pay all the money Singer was demanding instead of a reduced amount. Griesa is 85 years old and is known for taking naps on the bench while hearing cases.

In June, the U.S. Supreme Court, on which three American Jews [Ruth Ginsberg, Stephen Breyer, and Elena Kagan] sit and who did not recuse themselves from the case, decided to reject Argentina's appeal of Griesa's ruling.

The Supreme Court's ruling on the Argentina case was purely political. Argentina had determined, contrary to Zionist and neocon myth, that Iran was not responsible for the 1994 bombing of the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA) building in Buenos Aires, which killed 84 people. Kirchner and other Argentine investigators later discovered that the bombing was an Israeli-inspired false flag operation intended to embarrass Argentina's President Carlos Saul Menem, who was the son of Syrian immigrants to Argentina.

Israel was upset with Menem because he strengthened Argentina's ties to Iran. Menem was forced to abandon an Argentine nuclear cooperation deal with Iran following the 1994 bombing of the AMIA.

The U.S. ambassador to Argentina at the time of the bombing James Cheek, told The Nation magazine, "To my knowledge, there was never any real evidence [that Iran was responsible]. They never came up with anything." The only evidence of any links between the bombing and any Iranians is the fact that "evidence" of the Iranian government's alleged involvement was manufactured by the anti-Tehran Iranian terrorist group Mojaheddin-e-Khalq (MEK), which receives funding and other support from Mossad and the CIA.

After the bombing of the AMIA, Mossad planted evidence at the scene. Two years earlier, after a bomb at the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires killed 22 people, Mossad also planted evidence suggesting Iran was behind the attack.

Realizing that Menem had been subjected to a vicious character assassination campaign by the Zionist media, Kirchner set about to inform the General Assembly of Israel's culpability in false flag attacks. Perhaps no better setting than the UN could have been used by Kirchner less than a two weeks after the commemoration of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, which amounted to yet another false flag operation that bore all the trademark Mossad handiwork.

After the appearance of the dubious Nisman arrest warrant in Clarin, it was discovered in U.S. State Department cables released by WikiLeaks that Nisman had maintained extensive contacts with the U.S. embassy in Buenos Aires, which helped him prepare his "case" against Kirchner's government over the AMIA bombing. Nisman continuously met with U.S. embassy officials who helped him hammer out his strategy against Kirchner.

An October 28, 2009 cable from the U.S. embassy in Buenos Aires states that Assistant Secretary of Treasury for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes David S. Cohen, recently selected to be the deputy director of the CIA, met with Nisman to coordinate efforts to undermine Kirchner:

Earlier this year, Nisman formally requested that the governments of Germany and France freeze four bank accounts containing over US $48 million associated with the AMIA suspects. Nismansaid that he has yet to receive a substantive reply from either Germany or France, and A/S Cohen offered, on behalf of the Treasury Department, to engage counterparts in these two countries to follow up on Nisman's requests. Nisman added that he has also requested that a judge order the arrest of former Argentine president Carlos Menem for participation in a cover-up after the AMIA attack.

¶1. (C) Special Prosecutor Alberto Nisman called on the Ambassador May 19 to notify us that the following day he would ask Judge Rodolfo Canicoba-Corral to indict a new suspect in the 1994 bombing of the Argentine Jewish Mutual Association (AMIA). Nisman described his painstaking effort to establish the suspect's links to both the environs of the AMIA site, a mosque in Buenos Aires, and his links via cell phone calls to Iranian diplomat and bomb plot suspect Mohsen Rabbani and a cell phone in the Tri-Border Area registered in the name of "Marques." Although the suspect, Samuel Salman El Reda, is Lebanese-Colombian, Nisman considered this a first step against a "local connection" -- that is a resident or Argentine citizen who had helped the Iranian and other suspects, a connection long of interest to the victims of the attack and AMIA. Nisman said El Reda has an Argentine wife and thought both are now living in Lebanon. 
¶2. (C) Nisman described the indictment of El Reda as a substantial breakthrough and as asked that we closely hold his name until it is made public, probably on May 20. For Nisman, the breakthrough appears to be that he has pieced together enough evidence independently of the discredited first AMIA investigation to single out El Reda and pursue the indictment.

The alleged Argentine prosecutorial arrest warrant for Kirchner, Timerman, and National Deputy Andres Larroque has the same neocon "taint" about it as did the forged Niger government and Iraqi Oil Ministry documents. WMR has recently reported on the growing threat of "anti-Gentilism" in Europe most notably seen in the virulent anti-Christian and anti-Islamic cartoons published by the recent Rothschild family-acquired French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, sexually-explicit attacks on churches and mosques by George Soros-funded and -inspired feminist groups like FEMEN and Pussy Riot, and attacks by Zionist groups on mainstream Christian denominations that support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) initiative against Israel.

Reverend Stephen Sizer, Church of England vicar of Christ Church of Virginia Water in Surrey, England and a staunch defender of the rights of Palestinians and repressed Christians in the Middle East is facing a barrage of crticism over posting on his Facebook page a link to an article titled "9/11: Israel Did It." Sizer posted the following question and statement: "Is this anti-Semitic? It raises so many questions."

Although there is overwhelming evidence from law enforcement and intelligence agencies around the world that Israel was culpable in organizing and carrying out the 9/11 attack on the United States in a typical Israel "false flag" operation, Sizer is facing demands by the Board of Deputies of British Jews for his dismissal by the Church of England. Although Sizer apologized for posting the link, the Jewish Board has always had Sizer in its cross hairs for his principled pro-Palestinian stance.

The Diocese of Guildford, which oversees Sizer's church, appeared ready to carry out the British Jewish board's demands and throw Sizer under the bus. A spokesman for the diocese said, "It [the Facebook post] was particularly insensitive in that last week coincided with Holocaust Memorial Day."

However, for Zionists, any comment critical of their Talmudic political movement and Israel always comes at "insensitive" times considering the number of holidays that Talmudic Zionism celebrates in a single year. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that a sect based on exceptionalism and exclusion finds it necessary to attack the leaders of a religion based on inclusiveness.

Israel supporters want to have it both ways. They condemn and want sanctioned Christian leaders who point out the evils incarnate with modern-day Israel. However, when it comes to rabbis supporting "price tag" arson, window breaking, and graffiti attacks against Christian properties in Israel and the Occupied Territories, they remain silent. There are no calls for offensive rabbis to be stripped of their religious titles and tossed out of Jewish institutions. Haredi Orthodox rabbis have urged their followers to spit on Christians in Israel and the Occupied West Bank. Where were the calls by international Jewry to ostracize and abandon three rabbis -- Rabbis Yitzhak Ginzburg, Yaakov Yosef, and Yitzhak Shapiro -- for endorsing the following statement in 2009?: "If we kill a Gentile who has sinned or has violated one of the seven commandments -- because we care about the commandment -- there is nothing wrong with the murder." Why was not Rabbi Yaacov Perrin dismissed from his office for making the following statement in 1994 at the eulogy for Baruch Goldstein who opened fire and killed 39 Muslims praying at a mosque in Hebron?: "One million Arabs are not worth a Jewish fingernail."

Christians expect their leaders to always tell the truth, even when that truth hurts a Christian or someone other than a Christian who attacks Christianity. Dr. Stephen Sizer and Pope Francis I have told the truth about Israel and the Talmudic Zionists who pose a threat to the peace of the entire planet.

In the interest of full disclosure, this editor's first intended career path was to attend St. Olaf College in Minnesota on an Air Force ROTC scholarship and eventually become a Lutheran minister after serving a chaplaincy in the Air Force. Although that career trajectory went off into a different area entirely, I have great respect for mainstream and traditional Christian ministers like Stephen Sizer who "answered the call" and serve their congregations, their nations, and those around the world, like the Palestinians and the dwindling Christian population of the Middle East, who are caught between Talmudic "anti-Gentilism" and foreign-supported cults like Daesh that falsely claim to represent Islam. For years the Israeli SIGINT National Unit (ISNU), also known as Unit 8200, which is a Third Party partner of the U.S. National Security Agency, has maintained a massive communications surveillance operation against Lebanon. Of particular interest to ISNU is the highly-advanced fiber optics network installed by Lebanese Hezbollah for its own operations. WMR has learned that in some cases, the Lebanese government has used the Hezbollah network because is affords more security against Israeli eavesdropping than official Lebanese government networks.

The latest release of classified NSA documents provided by Edward Snowden reveal that NSA's Information Technology Directorate (ITD) has maintained a surveillance operation against Lebanese communications since at least 2007. Although the latest released information does not specifically state that Israel receives intercepted signals intelligence gathered by ITD and NSA Georgia from Lebanon, a previously-released NSA-ISNU memorandum of understanding (MOU) states that ISNU is provided "raw SIGINT data (i..e., signals intelligence information that has not been reviewed for foreign intelligence purposes or minimized)."

In January 2007, NSA Georgia at Fort Gordon, Georgia maintained surveillance of Lebanon's leadership, including the "Ministry of Interior, Parliament Members, and Presidential Palace." Also targeted were the former commander of the Common Border Force. Lebanon is the only country in the world with an agency called the "Common Border Force." The presidents of Lebanon at the time of the surveillance were Emile Lahoud and acting president Fouad Siniora, who was previously prime minister. The Interior Ministers was Hassan Sabeh. The prime minister until 2005 was Najib Mikati.

According to the United Nations, the Lebanese Common Border Force was "established by the Lebanese Council of Ministers on 28 July 2007, within the context of a pilot project led by Germany along Lebanon's northern border with the Syrian Arab Republic. Responsible for the surveillance and control of Lebanon's northern border with the Syrian Arab Republic to ensure that the passage of all goods is restricted to legal crossing points only, preventing the smuggling of weapons, ammunition and prohibited material through the establishment of permanent and mobile observation points. The Common Border Force brings together elements from the four principal security agencies responsible for border management and security, namely the Lebanese Armed Forces, the Internal Security Forces, General Security and Customs."

Other Lebanese military officers monitored by NSA Georgia were a colonel in the Information Technology (IT) Directorate, a general in the Medical Command, a general whose affiliation was unknown, an instructor colonel in the Army Staff and Command College, and a Lieutenant Colonel in the Defense Ministry.

Incredibly, NSA Georgia gave high priority to downloading from the Lebanese Defense Ministry a document on the Lebanese Armed Forces review of personnel issues regarding retirement, communications, and health care.



The most recent release of documents from NSA also includes one describing how GSM cellular equipment bound for the "Syrian Telecommunications Establishment (STE)" GSM network were implanted with a "beacon implanted through supply-chain interdiction." The beacon, once in place, "called back" to the "NSA covert infrastructure." The call back enabled NSA to "further exploit the device and survey the network." This black bag work was carried out under the auspices of NSA's "Tailored Access Operations" or TAO.

TAO oversees an operation where shipments of computer network devices (servers, routers, etc.) are intercepted. Next, they are redirected to a secret location where TAO/Access Operations (NSA AO-S426), with the support of Remote Operations Center (S321), enable the installation of beacon implants directly into NSA's targets' electronic devices. Hard-target networks around the world provide pre-positioned access points for NSA eavesdropping.

On June 20, 2008, WMR reported: "A cable-based telecommunications system installed by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and Beirut was so elaborate, the Israelis could neither destroy it nor eavesdrop on it during Israel's 2006 war against Lebanon, according to an Egyptian intelligence source. It is being reported that the sophisticated Hezbollah system is now being extended to northern Lebanon. In addition to the Israelis, the US National Security Agency (NSA) is having trouble conducting surveillance on the Hezbollah system.
