Free Trade Meltdown a Result of U.S. Unilateralism
The collapse last week of President Bush's attempt to forge a hemispheric free trade deal results from the misperception that Latin America lacks the power to challenge Washington's selfish pursuit of its own interests. According to this article from NRC Handelsblad of The Netherlands, it is U.S. and European unilateralism on agricultural subsides that must be addressed before Bush's free trade dream can come true.
