Yank licenses of stations broadcasting Limbaugh and Jones By The Wayne Madsen Report

Yank licenses of stations broadcasting Limbaugh and Jones
By The Wayne Madsen Report

The Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) issues licenses to broadcast stations that are expected to provide information for the public benefit. The Radio Act of 1927 established a federal regulatory framework for broadcasting that rests on the principle that the broadcast spectrum belongs to the public and that users of the spectrum must serve the public interest.

Recent statements about "fake weather" by right-wing bloviators Rush Limbaugh and Alex Jones, whose programs are broadcast on AM and FM radio, both regulated and licensed by the FCC, do not serve the "public interest."

Limbaugh specifically stated on his nationally-syndicated radio program that weather broadcasts about the danger posed by Hurricane Irma, with sustained winds in the Caribbean at 185 mph, created an artificial “panic” that only benefited retailers, the media, and the climate change agenda. Limbaugh lives in a mansion in Palm Beach, Florida.

Palm Beach is currently within the path of Category 5 Irma, which wiped out over 90 percent of the structures on Barbuda and brought devastation to St. Maarten/St. Martin and Anguilla, is not "fake weather."

Limbaugh added to his "fake weather" diatribe, saying that Irma is "one of the fastest and best ways . . . to advance this climate change agenda." Ignoring Limbaugh's obvious propagandizing against industrial-caused climate change spurred on by massive spewing of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, Irma, like Hurricane Harvey, which deluged Texas with over 50 inches of rain and caused unprecedented flooding, are the result of warming ocean temperatures. As oceans heat up, stronger and more devastating storms are the result.

Limbaugh contradicted the accepted science by declaring, "All you need is to create the fear and panic accompanied by talk that climate change is causing hurricanes to become more frequent and bigger and more dangerous, and you create the panic, and it’s mission accomplished, agenda advanced."

In a series of Twitter messages, NBC's meteorologist Al Roker called Limbaugh's comments borderline criminal. Roker wrote, "Do not listen to @rushlimbaugh when he says #Irma is not a dangerous #storm and is hype. He is putting people's lives at risk."

What makes Limbaugh's comments more egregious is that his program is aired by several radio stations in the current projected 300-mile wide path of Irma, notably stations in Marathon, Port St. Lucie, Gainesville, Melbourne, Jacksonville, Miramar, Daytona Beach, Fort Pierce, Sebring, St. Augustine, Port Charlotte, Maitland, Tampa, Florida; Brunswick and Savannah, Georgia; and Charleston and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Using the public airwaves to try to convince listeners to treat Irma as a marketing and political hoax is grounds for the stations that carry the "Rush Limbaugh Show" to drop the program or lose their FCC broadcast licenses.

Limbaugh's climate change denying rhetoric apes that of Donald Trump, who has called scientifically-proven climate change a "Chinese hoax." Trump's Mar-a-Lago club estate sits on the Atlantic coast in West Palm Beach, not far from Limbaugh's mansion.

9674chp_trump02.jpg  2036chp_rush2.jpg
Climate change deniers Donald Trump and Rush Limbaugh both have large estates [left-to- right] on Florida's Atlantic coast and both are within the projected path of super-hurricane Irma.
As Harvey dumped epochal-level rainfall amounts on Houston and environs, Alex Jones postulated on air that the government used "weather weaponry" to steer Harvey over Houston and maintain it over the city. Had Barack Obama still been president, Jones would have blamed him for steering Harvey over Houston. However, with Jones's political ally Trump in the White House, Jones harps on about hurricane warfare being conducted by the "deep state" to promote a "liberal agenda."

Jones also believes that Irma is timed with the October 20 release of the Hollywood disaster movie, "Geostorm," which Jones mistakenly called "Geoengineering." Jones blathered, ". . .
we have the new film Geoengineering 2017, coming soon on October 20. Oh, just a little bit more than a month or so after Irma is set to hit. Isn’t that just perfect timing?" Perhaps the film's producers used a little common sense -- something Alex Jones severely lacks -- in selecting the last few weeks of official hurricane season plus the days before Halloween as an advantageous time for the movie's release.

Over 90 percent of all structures damaged or destroyed on Barbuda, which took a direct hit from Irma. Limbaugh and Jones calling reporting on Irma over-hyped "fake weather" news.

At any rate, Jones's irresponsible pushing of "fake weather" nonsense, including calling Irma a non-existent "Category 6" storm, should earn the AM and FM stations that broadcast the Genesis Communications Network-syndicated "Alex Jones Show" a loss of their FCC licenses if they don't pull the program altogether. Such action is particularly germane to the stations in Irma's path: WDCF-AM in Zephyrhills, Florida and WOIC-AM in Columbia, South Carolina. Stations that broadcast Jones's show in the area of Texas and Louisiana affected by Harvey should also drop the Jones show or face a license confiscation: KSET-AM in Beaumont, Texas; KTFS-AM in Texarkana, Texas; and KMBS-AM in Monroe, Louisiana.

Reporting on the weather should be based on science, not crazy conspiracy theories from right-wing loons. The FCC owes the public a clean-up of irresponsible broadcasting on the public airwaves. There is no constitutional right for someone to yell "fire" in a crowded movie theater. And there is no right for broadcasters to air life- and limb-threatening nonsense in the public commons of the radio frequency spectrum.

Closing Russian mission in San Francisco slaps a rich cultural history By The Wayne Madsen Report

Closing Russian mission in San Francisco slaps a rich cultural history
By The Wayne Madsen Report

The decision by the Trump administration to order the Russian Consulate-General closed within 48-hours is not only a violation of the 1964 Soviet-American Consular Convention but a slap at the rich Russian cultural history of San Francisco and northern California. For the Trump administration to give a fully-functioning consulate-general, busy issuing Russian visas to U.S. citizens and permanent residents and renewing Russian passports of Russian citizen permanent residents and dual citizens in the United States, is as much an act of a tin pot dictatorship as was the U.S. visa ban imposed against seven predominantly Muslim nations and the decision to deport from the United States some 850,000 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) registrants after they were promised a road to permanent residency and citizenship.

The 48-hour notice given to the Russian government before FBI and CIA agents rummaged through the consulate-general
forced consular staff to initiate an emergency destruction protocol. Consular officials had to burn sensitive blank visas, files containing personal data on U.S. and Russian nationals, and other sensitive material, including Russian coding documents, as San Francisco thermometers reached triple-digit temperatures. While Russian crews in San Francisco were hastily packing to meet the 48-hour notice, the staffs of Russian trade offices in New York and Washington were also busy emptying their buildings. However, in New York and Washington, Russian diplomats had the luxury of moving some of the more critical files and equipment to the Russian Mission to the United Nations and the Russian embassy. The San Francisco mission did not have that choice. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the U.S. move "boorish."

Even after the U.S. severed diplomatic relations with Nazi Germany subsequent to the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack, the U.S. never entered the grounds of the German embassy on Massachusetts Avenue. Moreover, the German staff was given enough time to burn classified coding material before they turned themselves in to American authorities for internment at White Sulphur Springs in West Virginia. The Swiss government, not the FBI, took possession of the German embassy as the protecting power for Germany in the United States. The literal storming of the Russian missions by FBI and CIA personnel during a period of full diplomatic relations with Moscow is without precedence in modern U.S. diplomatic history. The actions are more of those of a Third World banana republic than a functioning democracy.

The last time a country gave a 48-hour notice to a diplomatic mission to pack up and leave was in January 2016, when Saudi Arabia gave Iran two days to evacuate its embassy in Riyadh. The move followed the Saudi severance of diplomatic ties with Iran.

In 1961, when the U.S. shut down its embassy in Havana following the severance of di
plomatic relations between Cuba and the United States, U.S. ambassador Philip W. Bonsal  was faced with the problem of having to destroy or transfer some 50,000 visa applications that were on file from Cubans wanting to come to the U.S. Had these files fallen into Cuban government hands, the repercussions for the visa applicants may have been swift and sever. Yet, the Trump administration showed no regard for the thousands of visa applications and U.S. and other passports that were in the hands of the Russian Consulate-General when it issued its Third World-style 48-hour closure notice.

In 1973, the U.S. embassy in Kampala, Uganda was closed within a 48-hour window as a result of threats to the embassy staff from the cannibalistic Ugandan dictator General Idi Amin. The evacuation of the embassy came after Amin sent President Richard Nixon a message that wished him "
a speedy recovery from Watergate." The Deputy Chief of Mission had to contend with many issues in the two-day window provided for evacuation: the breaking of leases; transferring U.S. diplomatic property to the protecting power, West Germany; and providing local employees with normal and severance pay. In the case of the Russian Consulate-General in San Francisco, there is no protecting power to assume control of the property since diplomatic relations with Russia have not been severed. The missions is San Francisco, New York, and Washington have been placed under U.S. State Department custodianship. In any event, Donald Trump's 48-hour notice is more in keeping with the diplomatic protocol recognized by Idi Amin than any rational world leader.

The Russian Consulate-General, with the exception of a few intervening years, was the oldest foreign consulate in San Francisco. The consular office, located at 2790 Green Street in the Cow Hollow neighborhood, has served as a cultural center for San Francisco’s Russian-American and Russian community in San Francisco. The decision by Washington to close the Russian consular office in San Francisco was as much a cultural slap for an American ethnic group as would have been the expulsion of the Irish consulate in Boston, the Israeli Consulate-General in New York, the Mexican Consulate-General in Los Angeles, or the French Consulate-General in New Orleans.

Trump's diplomatic moves are more like those of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin than any rational democratic leader

The history of the Russian diplomatic presence in San Francisco goes back to 1852. The first Russian diplomatic envoy in the Bay Area, Vice Consul Peter Kostromitinov, also served as the chief administrator for Russian settlers in Alta California, who were the original inhabitants of the first Russian-American Company colony at Fort Ross, established in 1812. Fort Ross was located on what is now Bodega Bay, previously known to the Russians as the Gulf of Rumyantsev. Fort Ross -- Ross being the shortened word for "Rossiya" -- was the hub for Russian settlements along the northern California and Oregon coasts and which extended inland along the banks of the Russian River to towns like Sebastopol. Fort Ross was also linked to the Russian community in the Russian Hill district of San Francisco.Holy Virgin Cathedral San Francisco2.jpg

There is some question about the legality of the sale of the Russian-American colony to the agent for a Mexican citizen originally from Switzerland named John Sutter, of California Gold Rush infamy. Sutter's agent, a pro-slavery former Comptroller of the U.S. Treasury named William Montgomery Steuart, may have swindled the Russians in the sale by the Russians of their California land holdings sometime between 1841 and 1849. There is no record of the agreed to price of between $20,000 and $30,000 in gold and U.S. currency being paid to the Russian government by either Steuart or Sutter, both known to be notorious grifters of their time. Historians cannot agree on the actual year of the alleged sale and accounts claim it was in 1841, 1842, and 1849. Lacking is any legitimate documentation proving the date of the sale or its overall legality. What is known is that in 1848 gold was discovered in California and Sutter presided over an onrush of schemers and ne'er-do-wells who flooded into the region, mostly from points east.

Under business law, the lack of a consideration in a contract, in this case money, would result in a null contract. However, under English civil law, which permits adverse possession of property by usurpers, invaders, or squatters, there is little legal recourse for the Russians today. However, in a purely legal world, without arcane feudalistic laws that permitted the ownership of humans as chattel and occupation of native American lands by white invaders, instead of the U.S. ordering Russian Consul-General Sergey Petrov from the Russian compound in San Francisco, the Russians could have ordered the U.S. government out of Russian-claimed lands from Point Arena to Tomales Bay and Sebastopol and Santa Rosa to Healdsburg and Forestville. Unlike the Americans, Spaniards, and Mexicans, the Russian-American Company agents who first set shore upon the Alta California coast and the banks of the Russian River negotiated the sale of lands from the local native American tribes. In fact, the Russians treated the local native peoples as equals and not as savages, as was the method of the Americans.

The original Russian consulate on California Street in San Francisco displays the typical Russian architecture of the era.

From 1863 to 1864, the Russian Consulate in San Francisco served as an important liaison between the Union forces and the Russian Far East Fleet. Tsar Alexander II, in response to a request from President Abraham Lincoln for Russian help in defending the two critical American ports of San Francisco and New York, dispatched his Far East and Baltic Fleets to San Francisco and New York, respectively. The Far East Fleet that arrived from Vladivostok consisted of the Finnish-built corvette Kalevala, three other corvettes, BogatyrRynda and Novik, and two Finnish-built clippers, the sister-ships Abrek and Vsadnik.
With the defense of New York and San Francisco in the hands of the Russians, the U.S. Navy was free to attack Confederate ports, as well as Confederate merchant ships and raiders. One such raider, the CSS Shenandoah, transferred to the Confederacy by the British Navy, was planning to attack San Francisco. However, when Confederate spies in the city reported to the Shenandoah that the Russian fleet commander,
Rear Admiral A. A. Popov, ordered his ships to fire on and sink the Shenandoahupon first sight, the Confederate ship decided to head for southern waters to prey on unarmed American whaling fleets.
Smoke from the emergency destruction of visa files and other sensitive documents billows from the chimney atop the Russian Consulate-General in San Francisco

In 1867, the deal whereby Russia sold its Alaska Territory to the United States was partly enabled by the ethnc Finnish consul for Russia in San Francisco, Gustave Niebaum. Finland was then an autonomous Grand Duchy of the Russian Empire. In 1879, Niebaum established the Inglenook Winery in Rutherford, California.

A certain element in the Bay Area has never liked the Russian diplomatic presence in the region. In 2011, when the Russian Consulate-General, along with the Russian Orthodox Church and the Mare Island Historic Park Foundation, attempted to restore the head stones of six Russian sailors who died in 1863 while fighting a raging fire in what is now the financial district of San Francisco, near the piers. The fire may have been started by Confederate saboteurs. The city of Vallejo tried to charge the Russian Consulate-General with "graveyard vandalism" for restoring the headstones without city approval. The Russians had originally been buried with full U.S. Navy honors in 1863. However, the Navy abandoned closed the cemetery in 1921 and successive commanders of the Mare Island naval base permitted the cemetery to decay. The Mare Island base was closed in 1995. It turns out that the Russian graves became pawns in a spat with Russia over its treatment of gays and, since the Bay Area has a vocal and, at times, extremely vindictive gay community, including a particularly noisy group called "
Gays Without Borders," Russia's good intentions with regard to the graves did not go unpunished.
Annual Russian Orthodox ceremony at the Mare Island cemetery honoring the six Russian sailors who died fighting the 1863 San Francisco fire. The Russian Consul General oversaw the planning for the annual event but will no longer after the expulsion by the Trump administration of the entire consular staff.

An invitation by the San Francisco Fire Department for Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the 150th anniversary of the Russian Navy's fire fighting assistance and to commemmorate the deaths of the Russian sailors was pulled as a result of political pressure from San Francisco's gay aristocracy. The original SFPD invitation read as follows:

"Dear President Putin,

The San Francisco Fire Department will officially take part in celebrating this event and welcomes participants from San Francisco and the sailors from Russia to join in the activities as they are the heirs and surviving legacy of the heroism of the past, We would be honored to have you visit San Francisco.”
The Russian Consulate-General would have been a key promoter of the aborted event. A San Francisco newspaper described the relief of the exhausted San Francisco firemen when they first saw the Russian naval personnel arrive on scene:
"Suddenly the spectators began to cheer, and to cheer again and again. A thousand throats took up the cheering. The firemen were electrified when they observed boat load after boat load of Russian sailors and their officers from the Russian fleet in the harbor, landing with buckets and other fire fighting instruments . . .
They took the places of the tired and exhausted firemen and worked hard and long at the pumps and finally conquered the fire."Leonid Nakhodkin, the organizer of the 150th commemoration of the fire fighting event said, "At the last minute, I got a message from the City Hall of San Francisco saying that the municipality ceases all plans to participate in this event, and the same message was received by the Russian Consulate-General. Why? Because the gay community threatened the San Francisco City Hall to hold a protest against Russia at the event." He added, "It should be remembered that, when saving the lives of San Francisco residents, the Russian sailors did not differentiate among sexual orientation and saved everyone they could."

After the Russian Consulate closed in 1924 when the new Soviet government failed to pay for its operational costs, the last consul-general of the Russian Empire, Artemy M. Vyvodtsev, voluntarily maintained consular services at the consulate on California Street at his own expense until 1933, when the United States and Soviet Union established diplomatic relations. The consulate reopened at a building on Divisadero Street. In 1948, the consulate was closed during the "Red scare-mongering" days of the Cold War and would not reopen until 1973 at the Green Street location.Although his tenure as Russian Consul was over, the ousted diplomat made the surprising decision to continue consular responsibilities despite having no state to represent. Although a Russian royalist, Artemy Vyvodtsev continued to provide consular services in San Francisco for the Soviet Union during the period 1924-1933, when there were no official diplomatic or consular relations between the U.S. and USSR.

Steuart, the man who may have scammed the Tsar's government out of as much as $30,000 for the Russian-American Company's land in northern California, later became the director of the U.S. Bureau of the Census. His Maryland family, all Confederates, saw much of their land confiscated during the Civil War. Ironically, Donald Trump, who has made common cause with the neo-Confederate and white supremacist ideological descendants of Steuart, ordered ejected from San Francisco a historic diplomatic mission that provided diplomatic and other support for the Russian fleet to protect San Francisco and critical federal gold supplies from Confederate raiders and saboteurs.

"Javanka" threatens to expand blood diamond trade By The Wayne Madsen Report

"Javanka" threatens to expand blood diamond trade
By The Wayne Madsen Report

The Trump White House advisory duo of Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, "Javanka" as they are known to their White House detractors, threatens to undo years of international efforts to stem the flow of conflict diamonds, or "blood diamonds" from Africa. Conflict diamonds from Africa pass into the hands of unscrupulous diamond brokers in Europe, the United States, and South Africa. Ms. Trump and Kushner are directly tied to Israeli and U.S. Orthodox Jewish diamond interests in New York that have overseen the flow of conflict diamonds from such nations as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Angola.

Part of the reason for the concern of international diplomats about the Trump administration's stand on conflict diamonds arises as a result of key vacancies within the State Department, including diplomats responsible for U.S. Africa policy. President Trump has shown no signs that he is ready to nominate anyone to fill secondary and tertiary level positions within the State Department, which, itself is facing a 30 percent budget cut.

The soon-to-be acting Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs is Donald Yamamoto, who is currently the vice president of the National Defense University and previously served as U.S. ambassador to Djibouti and Ethiopia. Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) has expressed a desire for former U.S. Representative Jack Kingston (R-GA) to serve as Assistant Secretary for Africa. Kingston, one of Trump's cable news boosters, is known to harbor racist views, hardly an asset for someone who would oversee U.S. policy on Africa.

There are currently acting officials in charge of Africa desks at the National Security Council and Department of Defense. Meanwhile, there are reports that Africa policy for the Trump administration is being conducted by "outsiders" with vested financial and other interests on the continent.

What is of equal concern are the ties of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner to unscrupulous Israeli and American Orthodox Jewish diamond merchants. Kushner and members of his family have been involved in real estate deals with members of the family of Israeli mining multi-billionaire Beny Steinmetz, including Raz Steinmetz, Beny's nephew. Steinmetz and his company, Beny Steinmetz Resources Guinea (BSRG), are under investigation in the United States, Israel, United Kingdom, Guernsey, Guinea, and Romania for fraudulent business dealings, including bribery. In the United States, Steinmetz is embroiled in a Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violation involving alleged bribes paid by BSRG to government officials in Guinea, where Steinmetz has diamond and other mining interests. Raz Steinmetz, who has taken over a large part of his uncle's business empire, partnered with Kushner in trying to grab up New York City real estate. Some of the deals were in conjunction with the Trump Organization, including a development project in Manhattan's Soho neighborhood that involved, in addition to Kushner, Steinmetz, and Trump, Bayrock Group LLC, a Trump partner headed by Trump associate Felix Sater and bankrolled by suspected Eurasian organized crime figures.

Steinmetz, one of Israel's wealthiest men and who is believed to carry out special assignments for the Mossad, struck a lucrative deal with Guinea in 2008 to exploit the Simandou iron mine, which contains what is believed to be the largest iron ore deposit in the world. The deal between Steinmetz's BSRG and Guinea's President Alpha Condé saw Steinmetz invest $165 million in the deal. However, when BSRG struck a deal in April 2010 that saw the Brazilian mining firm Vale pick up 51 percent of the Simandou concession for a cool $2.5 billion, the CIA and Steinmetz Group business rival George Soros realized that Steinmetz had profited nicely from the Guinea deal.

Civil complaint brought by Rio Tinto, a major mining group, against Jared Kushner business partner, the Steinmetz family of Israel

The CIA convinced Condé that the Israelis had defrauded him and offered Guinea only a fraction of the actual worth of the Simandou mine. The message was clear: the Israelis swindled Condé. Condé demanded the joint mining firm established between BSRG and Vale, VBG, pay Guinea double the royalties in the venture.

Condé, concerned about BSRG's links to Mossad, barred BSRG's president, Asher Avidan, an Israeli national, from entering Guinea. Guinea cited "national security" concerns as the reason.

Condé agreed to give the green light to the CIA and the Soros operatives, and the latter who operate out of New York City and maintain regular contact with their bosses at the CIA headquarters in Langley, went to work. This past summer, the United Kingdom's Serious Fraud Office (SFO) in London opened an investigation of the BSRG Guinean deal. The SFO also pressured the Financial Investigation Unit of Guernsey, where BSRG had established its headquarters, to open an investigation of the firm. Condé arrested two BSRG employees in Guinea. Meanwhile, the FBI arrested BSRG's representative in the United States. Frederic Cilins was arrested by the FBI in Jacksonville, Florida before he could begin destroying several BSRG documents proving that Steinmetz had paid bribes to Guinean officials in violation of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Trump's turning over Africa policy to grifters and corrupt businesses spells doom for Africa's children, many of whom are pressed into service by Israeli mining interests and Mossad

In September 2013, Guinea arrested four Israeli mercenaries for attempting to overthrow Condé's government. In retaliation for Condé cooperating with the CIA and Soros to strip him of his mine concession, Steinmetz, according to our intelligence sources, convinced Mossad and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's government to authorize a "false flag" operation, a Mossad specialty, against Guinea. Commensurate with the Guinean parliamentary election, Mossad agents planned to pay members of the Guinean opposition and the anti-Condé Fula tribe to commit acts of terrorism. The election violence would force Guinean security and police, where Mossad has its "assets" in place, to launch a bloody crackdown. Mossad believed that in the midst of election violence, its assets in the Guinean military and police could successfully declare a state of national emergency and oust Condé and his government, replacing it with Israeli loyalists. It should be noted that 85 percent of Guineans are Muslims.

It was later discovered that Guinea arrested the Israelis based on tips received from the CIA and the French Direction Generale de la Securite Exterieure (DGSE) foreign intelligence service. The CIA and DGSE intelligence stated that Mossad had hired Israeli, French, and South African mercenaries to launch false flag attacks in preparation for a military coup.

With the Mossad coup unsuccessful, Condé's Rally of the Guinean People (RPG) party won the September election. Soros's NGOs, who served as election monitors, were rather muted in their criticism of the election, which was rife with fraud.

With Steinmetz's New York real estate partner, Kushner and his wife Ivanka, in the cat bird's seat advising Trump, the entire corrupt Israeli and New York, London, and Antwerp Jewish diamond industry sees a chance to grab up more lucrative mining deals in Africa. The links between the Steinmetz Group and Kushner also places U.S. Africa policy firmly in the hands of Israeli interlocutors.

Ms. Trump is no stranger to corruption in the diamond business. Her partner in Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry and Madison Avenue Diamonds LLC is a noted Orthodox Jewish New York business defendant Moshe, aka Mosha, Lax, who has been involved in lawsuit after lawsuit in New York, mostly for his failure to pay his bills or defraud business partners. Former New York Governor Elliot Spitzer kicked Lax out of rented business property in a building owned by Spitzer, which is located at 800 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, for failure to pay rent. Ivanka Trump has managed to avoid any repercussions from Lax's activities by merely failing to show up at court hearings in which she or her businesses have been named as defendants.

One of many lawsuits brought against Moshe Lax, Ivanka Trump's diamond business partner
With Ivanka and Jared Kushner in a position to force the State Department to look the other way when it comes to the smuggling of blood diamonds from Africa, the first victims will be African children who are press-ganged into becoming child soldiers, tribes who are forced off their ancestral lands for mining operations, and African governments trying to lift themselves out of rampant corruption brought about by foreign natural resource exploiters.

The Trump/Kushner "Trojan horse" inside the CIA has agency on alert By The Wayne Madsen Report

The Trump/Kushner "Trojan horse" inside the CIA has agency on alert
By The Wayne Madsen Report

The Central Intelligence Agency is no stranger to "moles" feeding highly-classified intelligence to outside parties. The Cold War and subsequent years saw moles within the CIA being ferreted out by U.S. counter-intelligence officers. However, what is unprecedented is the fact that the current CIA director, former Kansas Tea Party Republic Representative Mike Pompeo, is suspected by CIA counter-intelligence officials of conveying critical intelligence on certain key CIA operations to Donald Trump and his close associates, including Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner. It is well known that Kushner and his ex-con father, Charles Kushner, enjoy close relations with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Israeli Mossad.

What has CIA internal security and counter-intelligence personnel particularly worried is a decision by Pompeo to have the agency's Counterintelligence Mission Center (CMC) to report to him directly. The CMC is responsible for investigating Trump and the Trump Organization's links to a myriad of Russian and other Eurasian individuals, companies, and syndicates. Pompeo's decision was so egregious to CIA career employees, one or more leaked to The Washington Post Pompeo's unusual decision to have the CMC bypass its intermediate superiors within the agency's chain-of-command and pass on all relevant information on counter-intelligence operations, including raw intelligence, directly to Pompeo.

The CMC is an outgrowth of the CIA's original counter-intelligence center formed by the legendary CIA mole-hunter James Jesus Angleton, who suspected Soviet moles had penetrated the CIA and other government agencies. However, FBI director J. Edgar Hoover believed that Angleton was so paranoid about moles that Angleton may have been one himself. If Angleton, who was very Catholic and very anti-Communist, was a mole, it was probably for Mossad, with which he maintained an unauthorized close relationship.

Mike Pompeo official CIA portrait.jpg Trojan Horse
Pompeo is a suspected Trojan horse and mole who is running the CIA

When Ronald Reagan's campaign finance chairman William Casey took over the reins at the CIA in 1981, he immediately appointed New York businessman Max Hugel to the post of Deputy Director of Operations. Hugel's off-the-books contacts with Mossad and the Israeli government ensured his quick departure from Langley and a counter-intelligence damage assessment from his short tenure -- May 1981 to July 1981  -- as the head of CIA clandestine operations. The official reason Hugel was sacked was a seven-year old civil case involving securities fraud. It was much more convenient for Casey and the agency to cite an old civil case in firing Hugel than having to admit they placed a suspected Mossad mole in charge of the CIA's espionage operations.

Bill Clinton's CIA director, John Deutch, was investigated by CIA counter-intelligence and the FBI for mislabeling several classified CIA laptop computers as "unclassified" and taking them home. After Deutch pleaded guilty on January 19, 2001, to a misdemeanor of mishandling government secrets, Clinton pardoned him. Deutch was discovered to have used his classified laptops from home to access a number of pornographic websites, some of which downloaded data-retrieving "cookies" programs on to the computers' hard drives.

CIA officers told the Post that Pompeo's political activism on behalf of Trump has the agency extremely concerned about security compromises. Agency officials expressed concern to the Post that never in the history of the CIA has there been a director so willing to place politics over the agency's non-partisan intelligence and counter-intelligence mission.

In what could be bad news for Trump and Pompeo, career CIA officers have responded to Pompeo's political meddling in CIA operations by providing counter-intelligence evidence on suspected security breaches committed by Pompeo to Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller and agents with the FBI. Although the CIA and FBI have had a traditionally stormy relationship, the unofficial and low-level cooperation between the CIA and the Bureau has grown closer as Pompeo has shown himself to be a dangerous mole within Langley.

Pompeo has no prior intelligence experience, other than peripheral, from serving as an Army officer in Germany after graduating from West Point. Pompeo, who ran businesses in the oil sector, received his political boost from the Koch brothers.

One anonymous CIA officer told the Post, "People have to watch him [Pompeo] . . . It's almost as if he can’t resist the impulse to be political." Another CIA officer fretted, "if you were passing on something too dicey [to Pompeo] he would go to the White House with it." Even though White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and National Security Adviser (NSA) Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster have purged the White House of far-right political hacks, Steve Bannon and Sebastian Gorka, with McMaster previously purging from the National Security Council ex-NSA Michael Flynn loyalists Ezra Cohen-Watnick, Rich Higgins, Derek Harvey, and Victoria Coates, Pompeo remains a significant malignant Trojan horse within the national security structure. Moreover, the continued presence of Kushner and Trump speechwriter, Stephen Miller, within the White House pose a significant counter-intelligence threat, especially where Israel's Mossad is concerned.

Thanks to Kelly and McMaster, neo-con war hawk and former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton, is now also persona non grata in the Oval Office. Bolton has been trying to undo the Iranian nuclear agreement on behalf of his Israeli paymasters.

Politicizing disasters: it's an old Republican tactic BY THE WAYNE MADEN REPORT

Politicizing disasters: it's an old Republican tactic
BY THE WAYNE MADEN REPORT

The modern Republican Party can always be counted upon to inject its brand of racist politics into any natural disaster. Hurricane Harvey, which has brought about a 1000-year epic flood in northeast Texas, is no exception. No sooner had pictures emerged from the Houston area of flooded homes and stranded residents on rooftops, the GOP spin machine, egged on by conspiracy hate monger websites, the most prominent being located in Texas, began laying blame on elected and appointed Democratic officials.

Just as New Orleans Republican-turned-Democratic Mayor Ray Nagin became the target of hate merchants after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, with Rush Limbaugh constantly "mispronouncing" his name as "Naggir," the racist right and their GOP dog whistling allies began blaming Houston's monumental rescue effort on the city's African-American Democratic mayor Sylvester Turner.  One thing the radical right can never be accused of is heeding the lessons of history.

Although Nagin was, in fact, a corrupt politician and is now Federal prison inmate 32571-034, he realized he could only become New Orleans mayor if he became a Democrat. Nevertheless, it was the ineffectiveness of the George W. Bush administration, Bush's inept Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) director Michael Brown ("Heckuva job Brownie"), and the cold political calculation of Bush's political adviser Karl Rove that saw Washington try to blame Louisiana's Democratic Governor Kathleen Blanco, as well as Nagin, for the hundreds of deaths in and around New Orleans after the levees broke. In the aftermath of Katrina, whistleblowers working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers cited corruption within the agency that led, in part, to the levee failures and the massive post-hurricane death count in Louisiana.

Criticisms by Trump acolytes of Turner have fallen flat. Attempts to paint Turner as a bungling mayor for not ordering the evacuation of, in concert with Harris County, of 6.5 million people from the greater Houston area, the fourth largest urban area in the United States, were not successful. Houston, as pointed out by the mayor and several other Houston officials, learned its lesson from Hurricane Rita, which followed Katrina by a few weeks and was the fourth most intense hurricane to strike the U.S. during modern meteorological record-keeping. When Texas's bumbling GOP Governor Rick Perry, now Donald Trump's Energy Secretary, pushed for the evacuation from Houston and Galveston of 3.7 million people, disaster struck on the highways. Among the 118 deaths caused by the mandatory evacuation order were 23 nursing home evacuees who perished when their bus caught fire on traffic-clogged Interstate 45. Many evacuees nearly drowned when their vehicles were swamped with flood waters while stuck in miles-long traffic jams. Other evacuees ran out of gas or saw their vehicles break down.

Turner did not want a repeat of Rita and decided that Houstonians were safer if they sheltered at home and be rescued by boat, high-water vehicles, or helicopter if the need arose. Turner's decision proved to be the wiser option. Thousands of Houstonians were rescued from rooftops who might have drowned in their vehicles had they been subjected to a mandatory evacuation order. Turner coordinated his efforts with Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, a Republican. Turner and Emmett rejected criticism of their decision not to order a mega-evacuation of the greater Houston area, rare cooperation between a Democrat and Republican during an era of childish name-calling from the White House.

Emmett also criticized Abbott for urging Harris County and Houston residents to evacuate north. Abbott said, "If I were living in the Houston region, as I once did, I would decide to head to areas north of there." Emmett scolded Abbott, saying, "We don’t need people getting on the highways.” Many Houston area highways, including interstates, turned into raging rivers after all the region's bayous overflowed their banks.

Many Trump observers expected the president to tweet criticisms of Turner as he did with London mayor Sadiq Khan after a jihadist terrorist attack in that city. Trump's constant refrain of "fake news" also resulted in initial state government lethargy over reports of over 20 stranded elderly residents of the La Bella Vita nursing home in Dickinson, in Galveston County. The nursing home operator was forced to transmit on social media a photo of her residents, some on oxygen and sitting in wheelchairs and on walkers in rising water, waiting on Texas National Guard air support for rescue. Even with the photo as dramatic proof of the in extremis situation of the residents, the Trump crowd, conditioned by their leader calling everything "fake news," claimed the photo of the flooded nursing home was photoshopped. This is yet another example of Trump's irresponsibility almost costing two dozen senior citizens their lives. If Trump could be sued for presidential "malpractice," he should be.

Trump was ensconced during the Houston disaster at Camp David, while Vice President Mike Pence chaired a Harvey response Cabinet meeting in the White House Situation Room. There was no plausible reason given by White House press representatives for Trump's absence from the White House. As the flood disaster in Houston unfolded, Trump busied himself by tweeting out comments about his winning Missouri by a large margin and, once again, threatening Mexico, which was providing hurricane relief assistance to Texas, with the "wall."

Trump's irrelevant tweets during massive flooding of Houston

George W. Bush was stung over his initial reaction with Katrina, choosing to conduct a flyover of flooded New Orleans from Air Force One after returning from vacation outings in California and Arizona. Bush later admitted his response to the disaster was lacking. Bush was not helped by his mother, Barbara Bush's insensitive comments about New Orleans evacuees, many of them African-American, housed in Houston's Astrodome being "underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them." Trump, in reacting to Harvey and Texas, learned nothing from Bush's ineffectual response to Katrina and the New Orleans disaster.

President Obama certainly put politics aside when he toured the ravaged New Jersey shoreline after Super Storm Sandy, accompanied by Republican Governor Chris Christie, who was effusive with praise for the president's rapid response to the storm damage. In the aftermath of Harvey, Texas GOP Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz are demanding the quick post-hurricane federal assistance they voted against for New Jersey and New York in the wake of Sandy. Nothing spells hypocrisy more than Cornyn and Cruz.

Nursing home residents in Dickinson, Texas, wait for first responders in a flooded room.
Irresponsible social media users, conditioned by Trump's "fake news" mantra, claimed the above nursing home picture was photoshopped. They were dead wrong and the delay in responding to the "SOS" from the facility almost cost the elderly residents their lives.

Mayor Turner was particularly incensed by social media rumors. He said, "False forecasts and irresponsible rumors on social media are interfering with efforts by the city of Houston, and its government and news media partners, to provide accurate information to the public about the expected effects of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Harvey."

One of the reasons why Turner received knee-jerk criticism from the right is because of his international standing. In June of this year, Turner was appointed, along with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the co-chair of Climate Mayors, a grouping of 372 mayors who endorsed the Paris Climate Accord after Trump withdrew the United States from the pact.

Although the radical right began blaming Turner for Houston's flooding ills, they did not attack Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a Tea Party Republican. Yet, if blame were to be doled out, Abbott would be a worthy recipient. There were no good reasons why Abbott initially sequestered state resources, including Texas National Guard helicopters, until situations like that of La Bella Vita arose.

The radical right vipers are now waiting with fangs bared in the event Harvey causes a major disaster in Louisiana. They already have Louisiana Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards and New Orleans Democratic Mayor Mitch Landrieu in their gun sights. And with Trump's Twitter fingers at the ready, these disaster political parasites see an ally in the White House.

Trump's "virtual cyber-army" is not Russian but American-made
By The Wayne Madsen Report

Donald Trump has often bellowed that he has 100 million followers on Twitter. In fact, Twitter lists 32.4 million followers on Trump's Twitter account. However, most of his "followers" are not even human. There is increasing evidence that Trump's technical team manipulated Twitter by creating Twitter accounts for "bots," anonymous and autonomous programs that mimic real users on the Internet. In the world of biology, a bot is a parasite that lives in the guts of animals until it is defecated in the animal's feces. The biological definition of a bot squares nicely with the technical term when it comes to Trump world.

WMR has detected that its own tweets are automatically re-tweeted by Trump bots even though our tweets are often anti-Trump. The Trump bots are not "intelligent" enough to distinguish between pro- and anti-Trump tweets. This might have occurred as a result of WMR's Twitter account being pre-programmed as one friendly to Trump. Therefore, any tweet from "WMRDC" is automatically recognized by the Twitter bot accounts as pro-Trump and is re-tweeted. WMR has noticed this anomaly for several months. Our anti-Trump tweets are re-transmitted by Twitter accounts that contain long threads of pro-Trump re-tweet messaging. These bots are noticeable for their lack of original tweets, they all merely re-tweet. These bot accounts often contain no user photograph uploaded by the account holder but do feature photos of Trump, "Deplorable," "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) hats, or American flags in the Twitter banners.

Below are two suspected Twitter bots masquerading as actual Trump supporters. "Frank" claims to be a "legal immigrant for Trump" and includes dubious hashtags as "Deplorable," "MAGA," "HillaryforPrison," "Trump," and "BuildthatWall." Frank decided it was worthwhile to re-tweet WMR's comment on the counter-fascist protest in Boston that compared the number of counter-protesters (30,000) to "in-bred fascist" protesters (20). "Burt" claims to be "just a nobody," however, he or it includes as his or its photo a caricature of the alt-right cartoon figure "Pepe," another give-away that this re-tweet of WMRDC's description of Trump's decision to boycott the annual Kennedy Center honors was not part of the bot's programming.

.

The creation of perhaps millions of bots on social media was well within the capabilities of four Trump campaign advisers who are connected to Internet "deep data mining" and data manipulation companies. They are Brad Parscale, the founder of San Antonio-based digital media firms
Giles-Parscale and TechBloc; Robert and Rebekah Mercer, co-owners of the data manipulation firm Cambridge Analytica; and Peter Thiel, the billionaire founder of Palantir Technologies.

The combined efforts of these three companies would have been more than enough to create bot users on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Palantir, which received its start-up funds from the Central Intelligence Agency's IN-Q-TEL venture capital firm, was in a position to transfer its offensive information warfare technology, gathered from its work for the CIA and the U.S. Cyber Command, to Trump "psychometrics" data manipulation and voter profiling teams.

Trump's "100 milllion" Twitter followers are a product of his imagination and a "bot army" created by his "Big Three" data manipulators: Cambridge Analytica, Palantir, and Giles-Parscale.

Palantir acquired a UK-based data mining start-up form called
Gray Havens. Combined with the data mining technology of Cambridge Analytica, whose parent firm SCL Group, is also based in the UK, the Trump campaign and the current Trump White House is capable of crossing the line from convincing voters to support Trump to manipulating them to do so. Cambridge Analytica has been charged with conducting voter surveillance operations for various political candidates and movements, including Senators Ted Cruz, Tom Cotton, and Thom Tillis; current Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson; the Brexit initiative in the UK, and former U.S. ambassador to the UN John Bolton. While Facebook is the favorite platform for Cambridge Analytica and Palantir manipulation, with Thiel an early "angel investor" in Facebook, Giles-Parscale appears to have greater abilities to manipulate Twitter and Google, particularly the placement of politically-oriented Google Ads on social media. Brad Parscale is a close associate of Trump son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner.

The one thing that can be determined by Trump's reliance on Cambridge Analytica, Palantir, and Giles-Parscale is that none of these firms are connected directly to Russian intelligence agencies. To the contrary, Palantir is a contractor for the CIA and NSA, while Cambridge Analytica appears to have links to British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) cut-outs at Cambridge University in the UK. Currently, Justice Department special prosecutor Robert Mueller is concentrating his investigation of Trump and his campaign by "following the money" to problematic Eurasian organized crime oligarchs. When one "follows the data" within the Trump campaign, it leads to a bot army with connections to U.S. and British intelligence, without a Russian agent anywhere to be found.

August 17-18, 2017 -- FBI releases file on Smedley Butler & Nazi plot to overthrow government/DAILY FORUM
By The Wayne Madsen Report

The FBI has just released 40-page file on retired Marine General Smedley Butler, who pro-Nazis and fascists had contacted in 1934 about heading a coup d'etat against President Franklin Roosevelt. Butler played along with them until he obtained the identities of all the ringleaders and passed them on to Congress. Has the FBI released the Butler file to warn America about Donald Trump's own links to Nazis and fascists that are found in yet-to-be-released FBI files? In DC, there are no coincidences.

General Butler warned the Samuel Dickstein committee in the U.S. House that among the neo-Nazis and fascists planning to overthrow FDR were "American Jewish leaders." Dickstein, who was Jewish, suppressed Butler's testimony. Today, as Jared Kushner and Stephen Miller support the neo-Nazi, pro-KKK stance of Trump, similar perfidy by right-wing Jews in support of Nazism and fascism emerges.

Was Trump's father a Nazi spy during World War II?

by the WAYNE MADSEN REPORT

Most of what the world knows about Fred Trump, the ethnic German father of President Donald Trump, falls between 1927, when he was arrested at a Ku Klux Klan riot in Queens, in the pre-war 1930s when he built and managed several rental homes around Queens on behalf of his E. Trump & Son real estate development company, and the post-war years, when his Trump Management Company operated several apartment buildings and housing developments. Around New York City, Fred Trump's real estate mini-empire benefited from generous financing from the Federal Housing Administration. However, the years during World War II remain as a sketchy and nebulous gap in Fred Trump's "official" biography.

New York Times article on Fred Trump's 1927 arrest at a KKK rally in Queens

Fred Trump's FHA-funded apartment complex in Coney Island was so infamous for its policy of refusing to rent to blacks, even black veterans of the war, that Woody Guthrie, who lived in the tenement from 1950 to 1952, wrote a song titled "Old Man Trump." Little did Woody, the father of Arlo Guthrie, know that the son of "Old Man Trump" would not only become president of the United States, but its first openly pro-Nazi president.

Guthrie's song goes as follows:

"I suppose that Old Man Trump knows just how much racial hate
He stirred up in that bloodpot of human hearts
When he drawed that color line
Here at his Beach Haven family project
Beach Haven ain’t my home!
No, I just can’t pay this rent!
My money’s down the drain,
And my soul is badly bent!
Beach Haven is Trump’s Tower
Where no black folks come to roam,
No, no, Old Man Trump!
Old Beach Haven ain’t my home!"
Among the hundreds of Trump real estate holdings Special Counsel Robert Mueller is now investigating is the Beach Haven LLC, the old Coney Island apartment building made infamous by Woody Guthrie.

In 1973, the federal government took Fred and his apprenticeship son Donald to court over their violation of the Fair Housing Act of 1968. It was the Richard Nixon administration that took the Trumps to court. The suit was settled in 1975 with no admission of guilt by the Trumps. That stance was courtesy of Donald's new mentor, the Joe McCarthy Red-baiting counsel Roy Cohn, a vicious self-hating Jew and a self-loathing homosexual. Cohn convinced Donald Trump to counter-sue the Nixon administration. The attempt failed but Trump learned that Cohn's advice to sue anyone at the drop of a hat would serve him well in the future.

Based on the fascination of his son, Donald Trump, with a book of Adolf Hitler's collected speeches, "My New Order," which Trump's first wife Ivana claimed he kept on the nightstand next to his bed, questions certainly arise about Fred's actual loyalties during the war against Nazi Germany. Although Fred's parents were German immigrants and Fred was conceived in the "Fatherland," Fred lied about his German roots during and after World War II. Why? Was he covering up a deep secret from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which was always on the lookout for German sleeper agents during the war? Fred Trump's KKK activities in Queens during the late 1920s, while Hitler's nascent Nazi Party was becoming a political force to be reckoned with in Germany, are suspicious. The same New York Times article that described Fred Trump's arrest in 1927 also describes fascist parade activity in The Bronx.

Trump's far-right political activities would have melded in well with the birth of the America First movement in the 1930s. Led by aviator pioneer Charles Lindbergh, whose Republican Congressman father was actually from Sweden but opposed America's entry into World War I against Germany, the America First movement was jam packed with Nazi members of the Friends of New Germany, formed in 1933 on the orders of Deputy Fuhrer Rudolf Hess. Perhaps not coincidentally, "America First" was the rallying cry of the Trump presidential campaign from 2015 to 2016. The tenets of Lindbergh's America First and Trump's version of it are practically identical. Both relied on boosting white European racial identity at the expense of minorities.

Nazi sympathizers were concentrated in the Philadelphia area, including Chester, where Fred Trump was building barracks for the U.S. Navy within sight of departing troop transports

In 1936, the German Nazi government authorized the creation of a successor to the Friends of New Germany, the German-American Bund, which maintained its headquarters in Manhattan. The Friends and the Bund helped many legal and illegal German immigrants with Nazi sympathies to enter the United States. Bund leader Fritz Kuhn, himself had emigrated from Germany in 1934. Like Kuhn, these Friends and Bund immigrants were all loyal to Adolf Hitler and had Germany defeated the United States, these Germans would have been appointed by Berlin as the Nazi leaders of the German American States. After being caught embezzling funds from the Bund, Kuhn was replaced by Gerhard Kunze in 1939. A few weeks prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Kunze fled to Mexico and the protection of the Germany embassy in Mexico City. Kuhn spent the war years in Sing Sing prison in New York and an internment camp in Crystal City, Texas. After the war he was deported to Germany, where he died in 1951.

Bund leader Fritz Kuhn meeting Adolf Hitler in Berlin. Did Fred Trump have a relationship with Kuhn in New York City?

Around 1937, Fred Trump's pals in the Klan joined with the Bund and the Nazi Silver Shirts and Black Legion to form the Storm Troops. This early "United the Right" movement received heavy corporate funding. By 1937, Fred Trump was making handsome profits as a notorious Queens slum lord. Did any of those profits end up in the coffers of either the Bund or Storm Troops? The families of past U.S. presidents had every aspect of their histories examined in great detail, although some quite belatedly. In Trump's case, there has been no meaningful effort to delve into Fred Trump's background in the interwar years.

There were so many pro-Nazis, including a number of ethnic Germans, in the New York-New Jersey-Philadelphia corridor, that the German airship Hindenburg made it a point to fly over a number of cities and towns with high German concentrations as a propaganda display. These included, in addition to New York and Philadelphia, Paterson, Newark, Elizabeth, New Brunswick, Princeton, Trenton, and Camden, New Jersey. The Hindenburg eventually exploded while mooring at Lakehurst, New Jersey on October 9, 1936. There is a belief that the airship fell victim to anti-Nazi saboteurs. Perhaps Donald Trump should be asked what his father told him about the fly-by of the Hindenburg over New York City and whether it triggered any pro-Nazi comments from the one-time Klan supporter.

The route of the Hindenburg took it over populous cities, including those with large German-American populations like Fred Trump's New York City

All we are officially told about Fred Trump's activities during the war years is that he "built barracks and garden apartments" for the U.S. Navy near the major troop embarkation ports of Chester, Pennsylvania and Newport News and Norfolk, Virginia. Fred would have been in a prime position to conduct "troop counting" on the numbers of newly-trained recruits from Fort Dix and Camp Shanks, New Jersey and Fort Indiantown Gap and Camp Reynolds, Pennsylvania who were shipping out from Chester and recruits from Fort Eustis, Fort A. P. Hill, Camp Pickett, and Fort Lee, Virginia shipping out from Norfolk and Newport News to Europe. For someone like Fred, whose far-right political activities as a first generation German immigrant must have been well-known and a godsend to the Bund and Nazi Germany's Abwehr military intelligence and Gestapo, having a vantage point so close to Chester, Norfolk, and Newport News and so close to monitor the outbound and inbound shipping lanes for Philadelphia; Camden, New Jersey; and Baltimore would have been a double bonus.

One Bund member, a German immigrant named Waldemar Othmer, infiltrated the U.S. military as a civilian employee and dutifully sent via microfilm information to his Abwehr handlers in Berlin on the movements of British and American military vessels, convoys, and merchant ships out of Brooklyn and Norfolk. Sinking American ships was a high priority for German naval commander Admiral Karl Donitz, who dubbed the program Operation Paukenschlag or Drumbeat.

Another German immigrant spy, Hermann Lang, worked as a draftsman for the Carl L. Norden Corporation in New York City. Lang stole plans for the top secret Norden bomb sight and before the end of 1938, the Luftwaffe produced one of similar design. Gustav Guellich, who arrived in the U.S. in 1932, began working as a metallurgist at the Federal Shipbuilding Company in Kearney, NJ. Guellich provided the Nazis in Berlin with classified information on the Navy's new guns and shells and blueprints for naval destroyers. Most of the Nazi espionage efforts before and during the war were directed by master spies Frederick “Fritz” Duquesne, an Afrikaaner immigrant from South Africa, and Willliam Sebold, a naturalized German immigrant. Their spy headquarters was located at 120 Wall Street in lower Manhattan.

Nazi Bund Camp Nordland in Sussex County, New Jersey attracted several pro-Nazi German-Americans from the greater New York area. Camp Nordland invited members of the KKK for joint rallies. Was Fred Trump ever seen there?

In the days before and after the attack on Pearl Harbor and Germany's declaration of war on the United States, FBI agents swooped in on German-American spies, especially in the New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, Delmarva, and New York regions. There were four Bund camps located within a 15-minute drive from the Delaware River Bridge connecting Camden in south Jersey to Philadelphia. In Maple Shade, a suburban community on the railroad line used by troop trains from Fort Dix to the Delaware River, a husband and wife bakery was discovered to have had a radio set in the basement. The kindly German couple were sending coded messages to U-boats off the East Coast containing counts of troop trains heading to Camden, Philadelphia, and Chester for embarkation across the Atlantic. The Trump properties in Brooklyn and Queens would have visual vectors on the Brooklyn Naval shipyard.

Fred Trump with his building plans in New York [left]. Albert Speer showing his plans for Berlin to Adolf Hitler [right]. What else did they all have in common?

One horrific event was etched in the memories of every American, the February 3, 1943, sinking by U-223 of the USS Dorchester, a converted passenger-cargo ship in the icy waters of the North Atlantic. Of the 902 officers, GIs, and civilians on board, 675 died. When rescue ships reached the area, hundreds of passengers were found dead, still floating in their life jackets and all victims of hypothermia. Four chaplains gave their life vests to other servicemen and went down with the Dorchester. "The Immortal Chaplains" -- Rev. George L. Fox, a Methodist Minister; Rev. Clark V. Poling, a Dutch Reformed Minister; Father. John P. Washington, a Catholic Priest; and Rabbi Alexander D. Goode -- continue to this day to be honored as heroes.

FBI rounded up many Nazi agents in the Philly area

The U.S. Coast Guard was on patrol at the entrances to the Hudson, Delaware, and Chesapeake Bays and under orders to drop depth charges on any suspected U-boats. On several occasions, after a depth charge volley, Coast Guard personnel spotted oil slicks, air bubbles, and even clothing and bedding bobbing up to the ocean surface.

The Nazi spy threat in the mid-Atlantic region was real. German immigrant and Lutheran pastor Rev. Carl Emil Ludwig Krepper, who served congregations in Philadelphia and Williamstown and Newark, New Jersey, resigned from the church. Later, he joined a Nazi sabotage group ordered by Berlin to carry out Operation Pastorius, which included blowing up a cryolite metals plant in Philadelphia, the Horseshoe Curve railroad pass near Altoona, and Pennsylvania Station in Newark. There were so many non-Jewish German immigrants to the United States who sided with the Nazis, Fred Trump's own murky history during the 1930s and 40s should be examined through a powerful lens.

Unlike Donald Trump, who has trouble talking about what his father did during the war against Nazism and fascism, the story about the German bakery in Maple Shade was described to me many times by my late mother. In addition, my Uncle Thomas Gray, who joined the Coast Guard from his native Cape Hatteras, North Carolina at the age of 15 and advanced to Lieutenant Commander by war's end, reveled in describing his U-boat chasing efforts off of New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and the Carolinas.

Fred and Donald Trump taken on by the Nixon administration for racial bigotry in renting property to blacks

I and many Americans  can recount the war stories from our parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles, but not so Donald Trump. Fred Trump's association with the KKK and likely links to the Bund and America First movement do not make for great war stories, unless, of course, one is a Nazi offspring. What Nazi wouldn't be impressed by a father who conducted secret surveillance of departing U.S. troop transports heading into potential deadly torpedo attacks from U-boats? Donald Trump, who has made no secret of his admiration for Nazis, would most certainly be impressed.

"Fake Swedes" -- Fred and Donald Trump. Like German father, like German son?

A picture of Fred Trump is placed in reverence behind Trump's desk in the Oval Office. If Fred Trump can be exposed as a Nazi spy during World War II, that may be enough to set off Trump on national television, an emotional display that may end up with him shooting someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue.
